ISLAM MAKHACHEV vs IAN MACHADO GARRY
Welterweight – Main Event – Title Fight:
Islam Makhachev enters this championship contest holding an outstanding UFC record of 17 wins and 1 loss. The Russian champion has dominated elite competition through his suffocating grappling, relentless control and ability to finish fights both on the feet and on the ground.
He comes into this matchup following a unanimous decision victory over Jack Della Maddalena after previously submitting Renato Moicano in the opening round. Before that he secured a fifth round submission against Dustin Poirier and a first round knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski and he is currently riding a 16-fight win streak.
Ian Machado Garry arrives with an impressive resume of 10 wins and 1 loss under the organisation. The Irish contender has developed into one of the division’s most technical strikers with excellent movement, strong cardio and the ability to win rounds consistently over three and five round contests through his takedown defence.
His latest appearance resulted in a unanimous decision victory over Belal Muhammad after previously defeating Carlos Prates over five rounds. Before that he suffered his first UFC defeat against Shavkat Rakhmonov by decision and had earlier beaten Michael Page and Geoff Neal.

Makhachev 1.26
Machado Garry 4.00
PREDICTION:
Machado Garry’s striking and movement could make him competitive in the early stages but Makhachev has repeatedly proven that he can neutralise elite opponents with his wrestling and control. The champion’s ability to dictate where the fight takes place should be the decisive factor and I expect him to wear Garry down over five rounds before securing a clear decision victory.

MACKENZIE DERN vs GILLIAN ROBERTSON
Women’s Strawweight – Title Fight:
Mackenzie Dern steps into this title fight with a tally of 11 wins and 5 losses behind her under the promotion. The Brazilian remains one of the most dangerous submission specialists in the division and has added improved striking and five round experience to her game over recent years.
She enters this title defence following a unanimous decision victory over Virna Jandiroba after previously submitting Amanda Ribas in the third round. Before that she defeated Loopy Godinez by decision and has now won three consecutive fights.
Gillian Robertson steps into the octagon holding a UFC record of 13 wins and 6 losses. The Canadian has built her success around relentless grappling, strong top control and an excellent submission game while also showing noticeable improvements in her striking during her recent run.
Her latest outing resulted in a unanimous decision victory over Amanda Lemos after previously stopping Marina Rodriguez by knockout in the second round. Prior that she earned decision victories over Luana Pinheiro and Michelle Waterson-Gomez after knocking out Polyana Viana.

Dern 1.47
Robertson 2.80
PREDICTION:
This has the makings of a fascinating grappling battle between two high level canvas specialists. Robertson’s wrestling will create opportunities and she will certainly land a few takedowns but Dern’s guard game and finishing ability remain among the best in the division as seen in her previous fight. I believe Dern will eventually find a submission during the championship rounds and retain the title.
JALIN TURNER vs KAUE FERNANDES
Lightweight – Main Card Bout:
Jalin Turner enters this bout with a UFC record of 8 wins and 6 losses. The American is a dangerous finisher with knockout power and a strong submission game although consistency has been an issue against elite lightweight opposition.
He comes into this matchup following a first round knockout victory over Edson Barboza after previously suffering a submission defeat to Ignacio Bahamondes. Before that he lost to Renato Moicano by knockout but had earlier stopped King Green in the opening round.
Kaue Fernandes arrives with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss inside the institution. The Brazilian prospect has made an encouraging start to his UFC career with a combination of technical striking and finishing ability while showing composure across different styles of opposition.
His latest appearance resulted in a first round knockout victory over Harry Hardwick after previously earning a unanimous decision over Guram Kutateladze. Before that he stopped Mohammad Yahya in the opening round with strikes to bounce back from his debut defeat.

Turner 1.69
Fernandes 2.20
PREDICTION:
Fernandes has looked impressive since joining the UFC but this represents a significant step up in competition against a proven finisher. Turner’s reach, power and submission threat give him multiple paths to victory and his experience against stronger opposition could prove crucial. I think Turner looks to be returning to his old ways after a run filled with tough opponents and I expect him to hurt Fernandes on the feet before finishing the fight later on.
SUGGESTED BETS:
Makhachev vs Machado Garry
Makhachev by Decision at 2.35
Dern vs Robertson
Dern by Submission at 3.25
Turner vs Fernandes
Turner by KO at 3.25
The treble of all 3 of my bets to land works out to 24.82
