We look at the International Friendly match taking place on Friday the 29th of May between South Africa and Nicaragua at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg and suggest a bet for the game.
South Africa vs Nicaragua
South Africa head into this international friendly after producing mixed results over the last few months. In their latest fixture they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Panama after previously playing out a 1-1 draw against the same opposition, both matches were international friendlies.
Prior to that they lost 2-1 to Cameroon in the Afcon knockout stages having beaten Angola and neighbours Zimbabwe in the group stage.
This will be an important warm up match for South Africa ahead of their World Cup opener against hosts Mexico in 2 weeks.
Nicaragua arrive for this clash after a difficult run of international fixtures against stronger opposition. Their latest outing ended in a 3-1 away defeat to Russia while before that they suffered a 2-0 loss away to Haiti.
They did however manage an impressive 2-0 home victory over Honduras during that sequence which put an end to a three match winless run which featured heavy losses against Costa Rica, Haiti and Honduras.

Verdict
South Africa appear to hold a clear advantage heading into this friendly based on recent form, world ranking and overall squad quality. They tend to perform well at home and should create plenty of opportunities against a Nicaragua side that has struggled defensively away from home. Nicaragua who are likely to field a young team, could still threaten on the counter-attack, but South Africa look capable of controlling most phases of the game and finding goals regularly while staying tight at the back.
