The second last round of Premiership action takes place on Saturday the 16th of May with several important fixtures across the board. Orlando Pirates can secure the title when they host Durban City while AmaZulu face Kaizer Chiefs in Durban. Richards Bay also welcome Sekhukhune United in what should be a competitive encounter, and we take a closer look at the selected fixtures from a betting perspective below.
AmaZulu vs Kaizer Chiefs – click here to bet
AmaZulu sit 4th on the table with 44 points and remain in contention for a strong finish to the campaign. Their recent form has been mixed with draws against Orbit College and Golden Arrows following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Chippa United.
Across the season the side have been well balanced on defence and attack, currently holding a goal difference of +4.
Kaizer Chiefs have accumulated 51 points and continue to impress defensively having conceded just 18 league goals while netting 32. Chiefs beat Sekhukhune 2-0 in their latest outing after holding Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw away from home.
Notably they have struggled to maintain momentum in their last few trips to the pitch having drawn three of their last five games, but they will finish 3rd.
Head-to-Head:
The reverse fixture ended 1-1 earlier this season while the last few meetings between the sides have generally been closely contested. Chiefs did however secure a 3-1 away win in the fixture during the 2024/25 campaign while the second match ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
Odds: AmaZulu 4.00 | Draw 3.25 | Kaizer Chiefs 2.10
Verdict:
AmaZulu are capable of making this difficult at home, but Chiefs look more settled defensively and arrive with similar momentum. The visitors should have enough quality to edge this encounter, and I am expecting them to put in a solid shift to further lengthen the gap between them and the 4th placed team.
Bet: Kaizer Chiefs to Win at 2.10

Orlando Pirates vs Durban City – click here to bet
Orlando Pirates are poised to win the title, sitting just 3 points behind Sundowns (who have completed their season) with two games in hand. They have been superb throughout the season, particularly defensively with only 12 goals conceded.
They head into this clash after back-to-back 3-0 and 2-0 victories over Magesi and Stellenbosch and a win against Durban City will secure the trophy based on goal difference.
Durban City are 7th on the standings with 38 points but have struggled for consistency in the last two months and have not been in the winning column since March.
They have settled for stalemates in their last three matches and were heavily beaten 5-2 by Magesi before that run. Despite this they will be happy with their return to the big leagues as they have remained competitive and possess an even aggregate scoreline at 25 goals apiece.
Head-to-Head:
Pirates have had the upper hand in this clash over the years and earned a comfortable 2-0 away victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season. The last time the sides met before this was in the 2022/23 season where Pirates won the second leg 2-1 after being edged 1-0 in the opener.
Odds: Orlando Pirates 1.21 | Draw 6.75 | Durban City 17.00
Verdict:
Pirates are in excellent form and should control this match from start to finish against a Durban City side that has looked vulnerable defensively away from home. I am backing Pirates to start fast and to win a high scoring game.

Richards Bay vs Sekhukhune United – click here to bet
Richards Bay sit 11th on the table with 33 points and have built their recent form around defensive discipline having drawn four of their last five clashes with the remainder ending in a win.
Their last three league matches have all ended level including goalless results against Polokwane City and Mamelodi Sundowns as well as a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants in their most recent fixture.
Sekhukhune United have built up 42 points across their 28 trips to the pitch and continue to chase a top four finish, currently just 2 points behind AmaZulu.
They went head-to-head with Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday where they fell short with the scoreline reflecting 2-0 in Chiefs favour while before that they claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory over Chippa on the road.
Head-to-Head:
The reverse fixture earlier this season finished 1-1 while last season saw each team win their match at home with Sekhukhune winning 2-0 and Richards Bay following that up with a narrow 2-1 triumph.
Odds: Richards Bay 3.00 | Draw 2.90 | Sekhukhune 2.75
Verdict:
Richards Bay rarely allow games to become open while Sekhukhune have not always travelled consistently this season. I think this will be another close encounter with both sides battling to beat the opposing keeper and I am backing the draw.
Bet: Draw at 2.90
