The FA Cup Final takes centre stage on Saturday the 16th of May as Chelsea and Manchester City battle it out at Wembley Stadium. We take a closer look at the match from a betting angle below.
CHELSEA vs MANCHESTER CITY
Chelsea put themselves in a position to lift the trophy after edging Leeds 1-0 in their Semi-Final thanks to a disciplined defensive display and a clinical finish in a tightly contested encounter. Prior to that they produced a dominant 7-0 victory over Port Vale in the Quarter-Finals and had earlier defeated Wrexham 4-2 away from home following extra time after the game was initially drawn 2-2.
Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool in their latest league outing after suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest and before that they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Brighton while also falling to Manchester United and Manchester City.
Manchester City booked their place in the Final with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Southampton in the Semi-Finals where they had to come from behind to win with 2 goals in the final 10 minutes. They had previously eliminated Liverpool with a commanding 4-0 Quarter-Final win. Earlier in the competition they also impressed with victories over Newcastle United and Salford.
Their recent league form has been excellent and City come into this clash after back-to-back 3-0 victories over Crystal Palace and Brentford while they also picked up wins over Burnley and Arsenal during the last month.
Head-to-Head
Manchester City have dominated recent meetings between the sides. City recorded a convincing 3-0 away win over Chelsea in April while the reverse league fixture earlier this season ended 1-1. They also completed a league double over Chelsea during the previous campaign with victories of 3-1 and 2-0.

Verdict
Manchester City have looked dominant throughout the FA Cup campaign and arrive in far stronger form across all competitions. Chelsea have struggled badly against elite opposition in recent months and were comfortably beaten by City in their most recent league meeting.
While Chelsea possess attacking players capable of causing problems, City’s structure and ability to score should ultimately prove decisive at Wembley and I am backing them to win the Cup although I see both sides beating the keeper.
