The World Cup Group stages conclude on Sunday morning, South African time as Algeria take on Austria while Jordan face Argentina in the final round of Group J action. We take a look at both matches from a betting angle and offer up a suggested bet for consideration.
Group J Update
Argentina currently lead Group J with six points after winning both of their opening matches. Austria sit second on three points, while Algeria are level with Austria on three points as well. Jordan are bottom of the group without a point and have already been eliminated.

Jordan have already been eliminated but will be hoping to end their campaign with a positive performance against Argentina.
Algeria vs Austria
Algeria enter the final round in third place but remain firmly in the qualification race. Their campaign began with a difficult 3-0 defeat against Argentina, where Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick to hand the North Africans a disappointing start to the tournament.
They responded well in their second outing by claiming a vital 2-1 victory over Jordan. Algeria trailed by one goal at half-time, but they showed strong character after the break. Nadir Benbouali equalised in the 69th minute before Amine Gouiri struck in the 82nd minute to complete the comeback and keep Algeria’s World Cup hopes burning.
Austria also arrive on three points after one win and one defeat from their opening two matches. They began their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Jordan where they looked solid throughout the fixture.
Their second match proved far tougher as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Argentina. Argentina scored once in each half leaving Austria under pressure heading into the final round where they will need a result to ease the nerves.

Verdict
This is a decisive clash with both sides still fighting for automatic qualification. Algeria showed real resilience in their comeback victory over Jordan, but they remain vulnerable defensively after conceding four goals across their opening two matches. Austria were well beaten by Argentina last time out but their opening win over Jordan showed enough attacking quality to suggest they can trouble Algeria. With both teams coming into this matchup riding similar form I am backing the draw to land.

Jordan vs Argentina
Jordan have endured a difficult World Cup campaign and arrive at the final round without a point after suffering defeats in both of their fixtures with the first resulting in a 3-1 loss to Austria.
Their second outing followed a similar pattern as they were beaten 2-1 by Algeria. Nizar Al-Rashdan gave Jordan the lead in the 36th minute and they held that advantage until midway through the second-half. However, goals from Algeria in the 69th minute and 82nd minute completed Algeria’s comeback and officially ended Jordan’s qualification chances.
Argentina have been one of the standout teams in the tournament and have already secured qualification after winning both of their opening matches without conceding a goal. They opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Algeria.
The South Americans followed that performance with another professional display in a 2-0 victory over Austria. Messi once again proved the difference, breaking the deadlock in the 38th minute before adding his second deep into stoppage time to maintain Argentina’s perfect record and keep them top of Group J.

Verdict
Argentina have looked extremely comfortable throughout the group stage, winning both of their matches while keeping consecutive clean sheets. Jordan have shown moments of promise going forward but have struggled defensively against stronger opposition and have nothing but pride to play for. Argentina are the more skilful team all over the pitch and should comfortably complete a perfect group campaign with another convincing victory.
