Two fixtures catch the eye on Sunday’s English Premier League card. We take a closer look at Leeds v Manchester United and Nottingham Forest v Arsenal from a betting angle.
Leeds v Manchester United
Leeds are currently seventh on the table with nine points from their opening six matches.
They suffered their first defeat of the season last time out, going down 2-1 away to Arsenal. Leeds remain unbeaten at home, having recorded one victory and two draws from their three matches.
Manchester United are 13th on the log with six points from six games. They have scored nine goals and conceded nine.
United drew 1-1 at home to Tottenham in their latest league outing, despite starting as 1.70 favourites. That followed another 1-1 draw away to Fulham.
They were also in Champions League action during the week, suffering a 2-0 defeat away to Atletico Madrid. That result extended United’s winless run to five matches across all competitions.
Head-to-Head
Leeds won 2-1 at Old Trafford last season, while this fixture finished in a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United 2.90
Verdict
The betting suggests there is very little separating these sides, and the draw is certainly a big runner.
However, the goals market offers the more appealing option. Manchester United’s recent matches have generally been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals landing in four of their last five games across all competitions.
Given United’s lack of attacking fluency and Leeds’ solid start to the season, I am surprised to see the unders available at above even money.

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal
Nottingham Forest are 15th on the log with five points from their opening six matches.
They have suffered consecutive league defeats, losing 3-1 away to Crystal Palace before going down 1-0 at home to Coventry.
Arsenal are second on the table with 15 points from six matches, having recorded five victories and one defeat.
The Gunners were too strong for Leeds last time out, winning 2-1 at home. That victory followed a shock 3-0 away defeat against Brighton in a match where Arsenal started as 1.70 favourites.
Despite that setback, Arsenal have conceded only five goals in their opening six league matches.
They also produced an impressive performance in the Champions League during the week, recording a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Lille.
Head-to-Head
This fixture finished goalless last season, while Arsenal won the reverse encounter 3-0 at home.
The teams produced the same results during the previous season, drawing 0-0 at Nottingham before Arsenal recorded another 3-0 home victory.

Arsenal 1.65
Verdict
Arsenal should have too much quality for a Nottingham Forest side that has lost its last two league matches.
The head-to-head record also points towards a disciplined Arsenal performance. Nottingham have failed to score in each of their last four league meetings with the Gunners, while Arsenal arrive on the back of a convincing midweek victory without conceding.
The straight away win is a little short, so I am backing Arsenal to collect all three points while keeping another clean sheet.
