Everton host Newcastle United on Thursday 29 October in the Carabao Cup last 16, with a quarter-final place up for grabs. Here’s how I see the tie from a betting perspective.

EVERTON vs NEWCASTLE UNITED
Everton have made a solid start to their cup campaign, scoring five goals and conceding none. They opened with a comfortable 4-0 win away to Preston before edging Wolves 1-0 at home.
The Wolves game was a much tighter affair, but Everton got the job done. They will be hoping home advantage counts again on Thursday.
Newcastle had a tougher time in their opener, beating West Brom 3-2 at home despite going into the game as strong favourites. Conceding twice was hardly ideal, but they did enough to get through.
They followed that up with a 1-0 win at Millwall. This is another tricky away tie, and they will need to be sharper at both ends of the pitch.
Head-to-Head:
Everton have won three of the last six meetings, with two draws and one Newcastle win. That includes a 3-1 away victory in an August friendly.
Everton also won the most recent competitive meeting 3-2 away in February. Newcastle, though, won 4-1 on their previous visit to Everton in November 2025, after a 0-0 draw there in October 2024.

Everton 2.25
Draw 3.50
Newcastle United 3.15
Verdict:
Everton appeal to me at 2.25. They have yet to concede in this competition, have home advantage and have already shown they can win a tight cup tie. Newcastle are dangerous enough to make it close, but I am siding with the hosts.
Other markets worth a look are under 2.5 goals at 2.05 and Everton to win by exactly one goal at 4.25.
BET: Everton to Win at 2.25
