The PGA Tour heads to Mexico this week for the VidantaWorld Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta, with the tournament running from 29 October to 1 November. The event moves to the autumn this year and forms part of the FedExCup Fall, with players battling to improve their positions in the standings and secure playing rights for 2027.
Brian Campbell is the defending champion after winning a playoff at 20-under par last year, while Wyndham Clark heads the betting at 13.00. With a relatively open market and several players arriving in good form, there should be some attractive opportunities further down the betting. We have four selections this week, including two bets on a player with an excellent course record and an outsider at a big price.
The Course
Vidanta Vallarta, formerly known as the Greg Norman Signature Course, is situated at the Vidanta resort near Puerto Vallarta and first hosted the Mexico Open in 2022, when Jon Rahm claimed the title.
The course has undergone significant changes ahead of this year’s tournament and now plays as a par 71 measuring approximately 7,337 yards (6,709 metres). The renovations have shortened the layout by around 100 yards, with changes to several holes, including a completely redesigned fourth. The 13th is now a driveable par four, while the 11th and 15th have also undergone changes to their par classifications.
The course remains relatively generous off the tee, with wide fairways and large, undulating greens protected by substantial bunkering. Length can certainly be an advantage, particularly on the par fives, but players will still need accurate approach play and a reliable putter to take full advantage of the scoring opportunities.
Historically, this has been one of the more scoreable layouts on the PGA Tour. Winning scores over the four previous editions have ranged from 17-under to 24-under, with Tony Finau setting the tournament scoring record at 24-under in 2023.
The changes to the layout introduce an element of uncertainty this year, but we can still expect plenty of birdies. From a betting perspective, I favour players who can create opportunities with their irons, take advantage of the par fives and perform well on the large greens. Previous course form is worth considering, although the renovations may reduce its significance slightly.

Betting
Wyndham Clark heads the market at 13.00, with Tom Kim and Ben James next at 17.00, followed by Doug Ghim at 19.00. Ben Griffin and John Keefer are both priced at 23.00, with Marco Penge at 26.00.
Clark is the standout name in the field following his outstanding season, but with the favourite at double-figure odds, this looks a relatively open tournament. Our selections include Clark, Corey Conners at 29.00, Patrick Rodgers at 81.00, who we also like in the top-20 market, and Mackenzie Hughes at 76.00 as an outsider.

Selections
Wyndham Clark at 13.00
Clark has not played a great deal of golf towards the end of the season, but what a year he has enjoyed. He has won three times on the PGA Tour, claiming the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, BMW Championship and, most impressively, his second US Open title.
Those victories underline just how dangerous he can be when his game is firing. He returns to the Mexico Open for the first time since 2023, when he finished 23rd, and the generous fairways at Vidanta should allow him to make full use of his length off the tee.
With three victories already this season, Clark has shown that he knows how to get over the line when in contention. At 13.00, I think he is worth supporting to add another title to what has been an outstanding year.
Suggested bet: Wyndham Clark each way at 13.00.
Corey Conners at 29.00
Conners heads into this week after an encouraging performance at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where he finished tied third, just two strokes outside the playoff.
That was his first tournament in more than a month, making the result particularly encouraging. He now heads to a course where his excellent ball-striking should give him plenty of opportunities to attack the flags.
Conners is one of the more dependable iron players on the PGA Tour, and if he can carry last week’s form into Mexico and enjoy a reasonable week on the greens, he should be capable of challenging.
At 29.00, he looks a solid each-way option.
Suggested bet: Corey Conners each way at 29.00.
Patrick Rodgers at 81.00
Rodgers has an excellent record at the Mexico Open and is one of the few players in this week’s field to have competed in all four previous editions at Vidanta Vallarta.
He has recorded three top-10 finishes in those four appearances, finishing tenth twice and sixth once, before placing 25th last year. That consistency suggests the course suits his game particularly well.
Although his recent form has been less impressive, he has made the cut in his last two starts, and his familiarity with the layout gives him an advantage over many of his rivals.
The course renovations introduce some uncertainty, but I still think Rodgers has a good chance of another strong finish. At 81.00, he is worth a speculative each-way bet, but our biggest stake will be on him finishing inside the top 20.
Suggested bets: Patrick Rodgers each way at 81.00 and top-20 finish at 4.00, with our biggest stake on the top-20 selection.
Mackenzie Hughes at 76.00
Hughes is our 2nd outsider this week at an attractive price of 76.00. The Canadian has enjoyed some encouraging results in recent months, including a top-10 finish at the ISCO Championship and a respectable 25th-place finish at last week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
His strength is undoubtedly his short game. Hughes ranks among the PGA Tour’s leading players for strokes gained around the green this season, while his putting has also been a strong part of his game.
Vidanta Vallarta generally rewards players who can make plenty of birdies, and Hughes will need a good week with his irons to compete with some of the longer hitters. However, his ability to scramble and hole putts could prove valuable, particularly if the redesigned layout plays more demanding than in previous years.
His previous appearance here resulted in a missed cut, which is a concern, but at 76.00 I think there is enough upside to justify a speculative each-way bet.
Suggested bet: Mackenzie Hughes each way at 76.00.
