Carling Knockout Cup Betting Preview – Quarterfinals

CARLING KNOCKOUT CUP

The Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinals continue on Saturday 7 November, with Orlando Pirates hosting Sekhukhune United at 15h00. Sunday 8 November sees Kaizer Chiefs welcoming Siwelele at 18h00, while Stellenbosch FC take on AmaZulu at the same time. We take a closer look at all three encounters from a betting angle below.

A place in the semifinals will be decided over a single match, with any fixture level after 90 minutes going into extra time, followed by penalties if required.

Mamelodi Sundowns have already booked their place in the semifinals after defeating Golden Arrows in midweek and will be waiting to see which three teams join them.

Orlando Pirates vs Sekhukhune United – click here to bet

Orlando Pirates booked their place in the last eight with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Milford. They have now won 5 games in a row across all competitions and they are coming off a 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

Sekhukhune United overcame Richards Bay 3-1 at home in the opening round. They saw a 5 match unbeaten run ended away to Milford in the league last weekend, losing 1-0.

Head-to-Head:

Pirates have won 3 of the last 6 meetings, with Sekhukhune claiming 2 victories and the remaining encounter ending level. Their latest clash ended in a 3-0 home victory for Pirates in the MTN 8 in August.

The Buccaneers also registered a 2-0 league win and a 1-0 away success against Sekhukhune that month. All six meetings have seen at least one side fail to find the net, while 5 produced fewer than three goals.

Odds: Orlando Pirates 1.56 | Draw 3.75 | Sekhukhune United 7.00

Verdict:

Sekhukhune’s three goals against Richards Bay offer encouragement but their recent difficulties against Pirates are hard to overlook. The hosts have won the last three meetings by an aggregate of 6-0 and arrive after another convincing cup victory.

Home advantage adds to the Buccaneers’ appeal, and will be backing them to secure their semi-final place without conceding.

BET: Result and Both Teams to Score – Orlando Pirates and No – market to be available closer to kick off but I would expect around 1.90

Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele – click here to bet

Kaizer Chiefs put three unanswered goals past TS Galaxy to advance from the opening round. Their 3-0 home victory provided a convincing start to the competition and after defeat in the Soweto derby to Pirates they will be looking to give their fans something to cheer about.

Siwelele earned their quarter-final berth via a penalty shootout away to Polokwane City after the sides were level at 0-0 after extra time. They are coming off a 3-2 away defeat to Maruma Gallants in the PSL.

Head-to-Head:

The three meetings between the sides have produced one victory apiece and one draw. Chiefs won the latest encounter 3-2 at home in the Premiership in September.

Siwelele claimed a 2-0 home victory in April, while the earlier meeting ended goalless. September’s fixture was the only one of the three to feature goals from both sides.

Odds: Kaizer Chiefs 1.44 | Draw 4.00 | Siwelele 9.00

Verdict:

Siwelele’s victory over Polokwane shows they can be dangerous in these cup ties but Chiefs made the stronger opening statement with their 3-0 success against Galaxy. They also edged these opponents in their most recent meeting and the betting looks right.

Therefore, I am backing the hosts to get the result within 90 minutes in a low scoring affair.

BET: Result and Totals – Kaizer Chiefs and Under 2.5 goals at – market to be available closer to kick off but I would expect around 2.20

Stellenbosch vs AmaZulu – click here to bet

Stellenbosch return home after eliminating Durban City with a 2-0 away victory. Two goals and a clean sheet ensured their passage into the quarter-finals, making them one of five sides across these three ties to advance without their defence being breached. They saw a 5 match unbeaten run ended on the weekend losing 2-0 at home to Chippa United in the league.

AmaZulu needed just one goal to end Kruger United’s cup campaign. Their 1-0 away success secured a place in the last eight and they have now won 6 matches in a row in all competitions. They beat Golden Arrows 1-0 at home in the league on the weekend

Head-to-Head:

Stellenbosch have won 4 of the last 6 meetings, AmaZulu have claimed 2 victories and none have ended level. The latest encounter brought a 1-0 away win for AmaZulu in August.

Four of those six fixtures were decided by a single goal. Both league meetings played at Stellenbosch during 2026 finished 1-0, with each side winning once.

Odds: Stellenbosch 2.40 | Draw 3.15 | AmaZulu 3.15

Verdict:

Both teams progressed with away victories and clean sheets, leaving little to separate them on their opening round results. AmaZulu’s August success at this ground also makes this a difficult assignment for the hosts.

AmaZulu may well be focused on their promising league campaign and I am backing the home team to get the job done.

BET: Stellenbosch to Win at 2.40
