The opening clash in Paris delivered a thrilling contest as PSG edged Bayern Munich 5-4 in a high scoring encounter. Both sides showcased their attacking firepower throughout the match with momentum swinging repeatedly (PSG led 5-2 at one stage). Before the French team managed to secure a one goal advantage heading into the return leg.
Recent Domestic Form:
Bayern Munich come into this clash in strong overall form despite a recent slip in the league. They played out a 3-3 draw with Heidenheim in their latest outing after securing an impressive 4-3 victory away to Mainz. Prior to that they claimed a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen and also recorded a convincing 4-2 home triumph against Stuttgart to continue their lengthy unbeaten run in the Bundesliga.
PSG have also been in good form across competitions, although they have shown occasional vulnerability. They were held to a 2-2 draw by Lorient in their most recent match after defeating Angers 3-0 and Nantes 3-0 in dominant fashion. Before that they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lyon but had produced a strong run including victories over Toulouse and Nice.

The latest meetings between these sides have been closely contested. Last week’s clash finished 5-4 in favour of PSG while Bayern secured a 2-1 away victory in their previous meeting earlier this season. Further back PSG picked up a 2-0 win at home in the Fifa Club World Cup 2025 when priced as slight favourites.

Verdict
With a one goal deficit to overturn, Bayern Munich are likely to approach this second leg with attacking intent on home soil where they have been highly effective. Their ability to create chances consistently should see them put PSG under pressure from the first whistle.
PSG remain extremely dangerous going forward and have already proven they can exploit defensive gaps but their inconsistency at the back could be exposed against a relentless Bayern attack. Given the hosts’ strong home performances and the fact their supporters will be firmly behind them, Bayern Munich look well positioned to come out on top in what should be another close and entertaining matchup.
