Tour Championship 2026 Betting Preview

TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

The PGA Tour season reaches its grand finale this week with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Only the top 30 players from the FedEx Cup standings after the BMW Championship have made it through, meaning we get a genuinely stacked leaderboard for four days of top-quality golf.

There is a huge $40 million purse on offer, along with the FedEx Cup title itself. As was the case last year, there is no starting-position handicap this time around as everyone tees it up at even par and it plays out just like a normal 72-hole stroke-play tournament. It should be an entertaining four days of golf in Atlanta.

Course

East Lake Golf Club is one of the most well known venues on the PGA Tour, having played host to the Tour Championship every year since 2004. The Donald Ross-designed layout was renovated in recent years and now plays as a par 70 that demands strong all-round golf across every part of the bag.

It is not the longest course on tour, but it is a serious test, with tight tree-lined fairways, well-protected greens, water hazards in play across multiple holes, and small landing zones that leave very little margin for error.  Finding the greens in regulation is going to be absolutely crucial this week as East Lake heavily punishes anything that misses, with tough up-and-down conversions from thick Bermuda rough and firm greens that don’t always accept flighted shots from the rough.

Putting is equally critical. Winning scores here tend to sit around the -18 to -20 mark under the current no-handicap format, so players who can convert their looks at birdie and keep the pressure on the leaderboard tend to thrive. Strokes Gained: Putting and Greens in Regulation are the two big stats we lean on this week.

Past Winners

2025     Tommy Fleetwood (England)                     -18                         3 strokes

2024     Scottie Scheffler (United States)            -30 (-10)               4 strokes

2023     Victor Hovland (Norway)                            -27 (-8)                 5 strokes

With only 30 players in the field, this is easily the most concentrated market of the entire year, and winners can be a lot easier to find than at other events.

Scottie Scheffler heads the market at 4.50 as the World Number One and clear favourite. Rory McIlroy is next in at 9.50, followed by Xander Schauffele at 12.00. Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay share fourth billing, all available at 17.00. Every player in the field has a genuine chance of winning here, but the market is stacked with names who have been in form all season.

SELECTIONS:

Sam Burns at 17.00

Our first pick of the week is Sam Burns, and it has everything to do with his putting. Burns is ranked 4th on tour for Strokes Gained: Putting, and we have seen how important that will be at East Lake. He didn’t have his best week at the BMW Championship last week, where he finished 28th but did have two third-place finishes prior to that at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and The Open. Burns has been in contention all year round, putting in some of his best performances in the majors, and it feels like a matter of time before he wins a big tournament. At 17.00, we think this could just be the one he goes and wins.

Suggested bet: Sam Burns each way at 17.00.

Xander Schauffele at 12.00

When it comes to the Tour Championship at East Lake, there is no player who does it quite like Xander Schauffele. Although he missed out on the field last year, his previous eight starts at this tournament speak for themselves, three wins, one runner-up, one third-place finish and two top-10s. Only once across those eight starts did he finish outside the top 10, which is a truly remarkable record at any venue on tour. Schauffele has also found some much-needed form at exactly the perfect time, finishing seventh at the FedEx St. Jude and runner-up at the Rocket Classic at the start of the month. At 12.00, we like him to add another East Lake trophy to the cabinet.

Suggested bet: Xander Schauffele each way at 12.00.

Wyndham Clark at 17.00

Clark’s season just seems to keep on getting better and better as we head towards the end. He put on another resilient display last weekend to win the BMW Championship by two shots. This was Clark’s third win of the season, with the other two coming at the US Open and the CJ Cup. Clark has only played at the Tour Championship twice and both times he did really well, in 2023 he finished third, while in 2024 he finished eighth. Clark is another player who putts like his life depends on it. His putting stats read first on tour for lowest putting average, third for number of putts per round, and third for percentage of one-putts. With the momentum of last week’s win firmly behind him, we think we could see something very special from him this weekend.

Suggested bet: Wyndham Clark each way at 17.00.
