The DP World Tour heads to South Korea this week for the Genesis Championship, taking place from 22 to 25 October at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan. Co-sanctioned with the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association, the tournament offers the winner a place in next year’s Genesis Scottish Open. It is also the final regular-season event before the DP World Tour Play-Offs, with players competing for qualification and others seeking to retain their playing rights for 2027.
Lee Jung-hwan is the defending champion after winning by three strokes at 11 under par last year, when the event was staged at Woo Jeong Hills for the first time. This year’s field features plenty of in-form names, with Si Woo Kim heading the market, Sungjae Im looking for a home victory and Eugenio López-Chacarra arriving fresh from his India Championship success. We have selected two of the market leaders and two outside chances at bigger prices.
The Course
Woo Jeong Hills is in Cheonan, roughly 90 minutes from Seoul, and was designed by Perry Dye, son of renowned architect Pete Dye. The course hosted 21 editions of the Kolon Korea Open between 2003 and 2024. Last year the tree-lined parkland layout measured 7,367 yards (6,736 metres) and played to a par 71. Its signature hole is the island-green par-three 13th, measuring 228 yards (208 metres). The rolling terrain brings uphill and downhill approaches into play, making iron distance control especially important.
From a betting perspective, this is not simply a course for long hitters. While there is room off some tees, positioning and accuracy matter, and the surrounding hazards can punish mistakes. The greens, rebuilt by Dye Designs Group ahead of last year’s event, are sloping and difficult to read; they were reported to be running at 11.9 on the Stimpmeter during practice. With the 2025 winner finishing at 11 under par, players will need to combine disciplined driving, precise approaches and confident putting. Sungjae Im, the 2019 Genesis Championship winner, has previously emphasised the importance of accuracy off the tee here.

Selections:
Eugenio López-Chacarra at 9.50
López-Chacarra arrives in outstanding form and has moved to the top of the Race to Dubai standings. He finished third at the Open de France, then runner-up at his home Open de España before winning the India Championship by two strokes last weekend. That was his third DP World Tour victory of the season and fourth of his career. With momentum and the Race to Dubai title firmly in his sights, he is an obvious contender, even at a relatively short price.
Suggested bet: Eugenio López-Chacarra each way at 9.50.
Sungjae Im at 9.00
Sungjae Im will be eager to win in front of his home supporters and arrives in encouraging form. He finished ninth at the Baycurrent Classic earlier this month, then went even closer at the Macao Open last weekend, losing a playoff to Wang Wei-hsuan. He also finished fifth at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. With his game trending in the right direction, he looks a serious contender on a course where accuracy and iron play are important.
Suggested bet: Sungjae Im each way at 9.00.
Ángel Hidalgo at 51.00
Our 1st longer priced selection is Spaniard Ángel Hidalgo, who has produced several encouraging performances in recent months. His recent form includes a strong showing at the India Championship, following promising performances at the Open de France and Omega European Masters. If he maintains that level of play and handles the demanding greens, he could outperform his price.
Suggested bet: Ángel Hidalgo each way at 51.00.
Sean Crocker at 71.00
Crocker is an interesting outsider at a big price, particularly given what is at stake in South Korea. He enters the final regular-season event just outside the top 100 in the Race to Dubai standings and needs a strong result to improve his prospects of retaining full DP World Tour playing privileges for 2027. Woo Jeong Hills rewards careful course management and a disciplined approach to its sloping greens, and Crocker will need to combine those qualities with a good putting week. He is not without risk, but at 71.00 there is enough upside to make him worth considering each way.
Suggested bet: Sean Crocker each way at 71.00.
