The DP World Tour heads to Paris this week for the FedEx Open de France at the Le Golf National course and we look at the event from a betting angle.
The Presidents Cup gets underway at the same time over in Medinah, taking some of the big names out of the equation for this week.
That absence does open the door for some of Europe’s biggest names to headline in Paris instead, with Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland all leading a strong market. With Le Golf National always producing a stern test, defending champion Michael Kim looking to defend his title (he won at the Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche course), and a genuinely open-looking field taking to the 1st tee, we should be set for a cracking week of golf.
Course
Le Golf National, on the outskirts of Paris in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, is regarded as one of the finest tests in European golf. The Albatros Course played host to a memorable Ryder Cup back in 2018, and it also staged the golf events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, so this is a venue used to the very biggest occasions. It is a par 71 measuring just over 7,200 yards (6583 meters), with a stadium-style design that gives spectators excellent views of the closing holes.
This is a course that rewards precision above all else. Narrow, tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee, water comes into play on several holes coming down the stretch, and the small, well-protected greens punish anything but a good ball-striking week. Course form tends to matter more here than at most venues on the DP World Tour, with several players in this year’s field boasting a strong recent record around Le Golf National, and that history is well worth paying attention to when weighing up the betting.

Ludvig Aberg heads the market at 8.50 off the back of a strong finish to the PGA Tour season, with Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood both close behind at 9.00, Fitzpatrick after a three-win campaign and Fleetwood looking to bounce back on home European soil. Viktor Hovland sits at 12.00 following his runner-up finish at the Tour Championship, with Ryan Gerard at 13.00 on debut and Kristoffer Reitan at 23.00 rounding out the front of the market. It is a tightly bunched market at the top, which should make for some good each-way value further down the list.

Fleetwood comes into this week looking for a bounce back after a disappointing week at the BMW PGA Championship, where he missed the cut. Before that he had a top ten at the FedEx St Jude Championship and a top 15 at the Tour Championship, sandwiched around a rare off week at the BMW Championship.
It has still been a superb year for Fleetwood overall, of course, having claimed his maiden PGA Tour title and the FedEx Cup at last year’s Tour Championship. He is exactly the type of player who tends to bounce back from a poor week, and with a slightly weaker field in Paris this week, we think the 2024 runner-up stands a brilliant chance to land the W.

Ewen Ferguson each way at 46.00.
The Scotsman has been on a solid run of form recently on the DP World Tour and has been putting in some very consistent results. In his last five starts he has two top ten finishes, which came at the Irish Open two weeks ago and the Danish Golf Championship back in August, along with a top 15 at the British Masters and a top 25 at the Nexo Championship. He has a top 10 at this course in this event in 2023.
If he can build on his current form, we could see him contend this weekend.

Jeff Winther at 46.00
Winther is another outside pick this week, but someone who has a very impressive record in his recent visits to Le Golf National. In his last three appearances at the course, he has finished runner-up twice and eighth on the other occasion, this is clearly a venue whose demands suit his game perfectly. Winther also comes into this week off the back of a 15th place finish at the BMW PGA Championship last week and a top 25 at the Irish Open the week before that.
