Formula 1 heads to Mexico City this week for the Mexico City Grand Prix, with the race taking place on Sunday 1 November. There are just five races remaining in the 2026 season, including this one, and Kimi Antonelli arrives with the Drivers Championship within touching distance. He could be crowned champion this weekend, while Max Verstappen comes into the race as the favourite after finishing on the podium in Austin last time out.
With the Mercedes pair, Verstappen and the Ferrari and McLaren drivers all in the mix, we have looked at the form guide and the market to find the best value. Here is our full betting preview for the weekend.
DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Kimi Antonelli is on 365 points and will win the Drivers Championship this weekend if he scores 2 points, which means finishing 9th or higher. With the title so close, we have looked at the Drivers Championship betting without Antonelli, which looks at the fight behind him. Max Verstappen is the 1.50 favourite on 236 points, despite being third of the four drivers on points. George Russell is second on 242 points at 6.00, with Lewis Hamilton on 241 points at 7.50 and Charles Leclerc on 233 points, also at 7.50. With only five races left, there is not much separating the four, so the market will be watching closely to see who comes out of the weekend in the best shape.

Last Race – United States GP 2026
Last time out was the United States GP in Austin, where Kimi Antonelli took the win. Charles Leclerc finished second, with Max Verstappen third, Lewis Hamilton fourth and Lando Norris fifth. It was a disappointing afternoon for George Russell, who could only finish eighth, a result that left Antonelli with a huge 123-point lead at the top of the standings with five races to go. It was a statement win for Antonelli, and one that has put him on the brink of the championship heading to Mexico City.
Mexico GP 2025
Last year’s Mexico GP was won by Lando Norris, with Charles Leclerc second and Max Verstappen third. Oliver Bearman took an impressive fourth, ahead of Oscar Piastri in fifth and Kimi Antonelli in sixth. Leclerc and Verstappen finished second and third in Austin last time out as well, so the two have been strong at the last two races, and last year’s top six gives a useful guide to who may go well in Mexico City.
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City is a 4.304km, 17-corner circuit, with the race run over 71 laps. It sits at an altitude of more than 2,200 metres, and the thin air makes it one of the most unusual tests on the calendar, affecting both downforce and how well the cars can cool. The lap also includes a run through the Foro Sol stadium section before the final corners. The lap record is a 1:17.774 set by Valtteri Bottas in 2021. With the cars so unusual to set up here, a clean qualifying lap and a well-managed race are key.

Betting and Verdict:
Our first pick is Kimi Antonelli, who won last weekend in Austin and has now won nine races this season. He is the second favourite at 2.60 behind Verstappen at 2.40, but when a driver has won nine races from 18, we think it is worth backing him to win again. He took pole and won in Austin in dominant fashion by a huge margin. With the title within reach, he will go into the weekend full of confidence, and we think he is the driver to beat in Mexico City. Antonelli also finished sixth at this race last year, so he has shown he can be quick at this track, and with a 123-point lead in the standings he is able to race without any pressure. At 2.60 we think he offers a bigger price than he should be.
Suggested bet: Kimi Antonelli to win at 2.60.

Charles Leclerc had a podium finish at this race last year, finishing second, and he finished second again last weekend in Austin, so we have chosen him for a top 3 finish. He is a consistent podium contender, and with the Ferrari drivers priced at 8.50 and 9.50 to win, a podium looks a much more likely outcome at 2.20 than an outright victory. Given his record at this track and his form in Austin, we think Leclerc offers good value for a top 3 finish. With Verstappen and Antonelli expected to be at the front, a place on the podium alongside them looks very realistic.
Suggested Bet: Charles Leclerc top 3 finish at 2.20.
