KEATON GOMES vs YOUSSOUF MWANZA
Heavyweight Bout – Main Event (6 Rounds):
Keaton Gomes enters the main event looking to bounce back after a setback in the WBC Boxing Grand Prix. The South African heavyweight holds a solid record of 13 wins and 4 losses, with the majority of his victories coming via stoppage. Known for his aggressive style and knockout power, Gomes has proven dangerous early in fights, with multiple first-round finishes on his resume.
Despite his recent loss to Ahmed Krnjic, Gomes’ overall form remains strong, having picked up several early stoppage wins in 2025 against Devon Young, Alija Mesic and Roberto Aguirre. Fighting on home soil should give him added motivation as he looks to reassert himself as a dominant force in the local heavyweight scene.
Youssouf Mwanza comes into this fight with a record of 2 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws. Currently on a nine-fight streak without picking up a win, Mwanza has struggled to find the cutting edge often going the distance but falling short on the scorecards.
While he has shown durability and toughness, Mwanza lacks the finishing ability and momentum that Gomes brings into this contest. His last action came in May 2025 where he dropped a decision against Akani Phuzi while before that he had lost by decision to Jose Kadima and drawn two fights on the trot.

Gomes 1.06
Mwanza 7.50
PREDICTION:
Gomes’ power and finishing instinct should be the difference here. Mwanza may show resilience in an attempt to survive the early rounds but the gap in form and ability is significant. I am expecting Gomes to apply pressure from the first bell and secure a stoppage within the opening round to collect the bonus.
KAINE FOURIE vs BILAL JOHNSON
Welterweight Bout – Co-Main Event (6 Rounds):
Kaine Fourie returns to action following his knockout defeat to Claudio Daneff in November. The Gauteng based fighter holds a record of 11 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws with an impressive number of knockout victories highlighting his aggressive, pressure-heavy style.
Prior to his last outing, Fourie was on a strong run with multiple stoppage wins in 2024 and 2025 including a round two knockout triumph over Oumpie Sebeko in August and he had also dropped Sifiso Hlongwane five rounds into their bout a few months before. He remains one of the more exciting fighters on the local circuit, known for his relentless combinations and ability to break opponents down.
Bilal Johnson comes into this fight with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. The KwaZulu-Natal fighter has shown solid progression, picking up wins via both knockout and decision. He is coming off a split decision victory over Tabiso Mthembu in February, demonstrating his ability to go the distance if necessary.
Johnson possesses decent power and composure but he has yet to face an opponent with Fourie’s level of experience and intensity. This step up in competition will be a major test of his durability and skillset however, he has proven in the past he can throw brutal punches by winning his first four fights of his professional career via knockout.

Fourie 1.50
Johnson 2.40
PREDICTION:
Johnson has the tools to stay competitive early but Fourie’s pressure and experience should take over as the fight progresses. I am backing Fourie to dictate the pace and secure a stoppage in the middle of the fight.
THABISO MCHUNU vs KAREB SHITANA
Cruiserweight Bout (6 Rounds):
Thabiso Mchunu a seasoned veteran with a tally of 24 wins and 8 losses, brings elite level experience into this matchup. Having faced world class opposition throughout his career, Mchunu is known for his technical skill, ring IQ and durability.
The 38-year-old is coming off a win over Amador Kalonji in May last year and will look to use his experience to control the fight against a less experienced opponent. His ability to manage distance and pace makes him a difficult puzzle to solve although prior to his latest test he fell short on the judges’ scorecards three times in a row.
Kareb Shitana comes into the event with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses. The Namibian fighter has shown flashes of power with several knockout wins but has also suffered stoppage defeats against stronger opposition.
Shitana will likely look to impose himself early and test Mchunu’s durability, but he may struggle against the veteran’s composure and technical edge. He last fought in December where he picked up a majority decision win over Vikapita Meroro although he was stopped in both fights prior to that

Mchunu 1.25
Shitana 3.50
PREDICTION:
Mchunu’s experience and technical superiority should see him control this fight from start to finish. Shitana may have moments but over six rounds the veteran’s class should shine through for a decision victory.
The Win Treble
I will be keeping my eye open for more markets closer to the big event (and will post these on Saturday if available) but for now here is a treble with all 3 of my fighters to win
