We take a closer look at three UEFA Champions League matches taking place on Wednesday night and suggest a bet in each encounter.
LASK Linz v Liverpool
This is the early kick-off on Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League card.
LASK had to qualify for the competition and produced a remarkable comeback against Celtic. After losing the first leg 3-0 away from home, the Austrian side recorded a stunning 5-1 home victory to progress 5-4 on aggregate.
Their league-phase campaign began with a 1-0 away defeat to AEK Athens.
Liverpool opened their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-1 home victory over Atletico Madrid. The Reds had to come from behind, scoring either side of half-time to secure all three points.
Liverpool’s nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions came to an abrupt end at the weekend when they suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the English Premier League.
Head-to-Head
The sides met in the 2023/24 Europa League, with Liverpool winning both encounters. The Reds recorded a 3-1 victory in Austria before comfortably winning the reverse fixture 4-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool 1.33
Verdict
Liverpool will be smarting after their heavy home defeat to Manchester City and should produce a strong response.
LASK have won only one of their last five matches across all competitions, and Liverpool should possess far too much attacking quality. However, the Austrian side demonstrated against Celtic how dangerous they can be at home, so I am backing the Reds to win an entertaining encounter in which both teams score.

AS Roma v Real Madrid
AS Roma started as 1.93 favourites away to Fenerbahce in their opening match but had to settle for a 1-1 draw after conceding the equaliser shortly after half-time.
Roma are unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions, although their two most recent league encounters have both ended in draws.
Real Madrid began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-1 home victory over Inter, having started as 1.58 favourites.
Madrid took a 2-0 lead into the break, and although Inter pulled a goal back in the second half, the hosts held on to collect all three points.
Real Madrid recorded a 1-0 home victory over Villarreal in their latest league outing. That result followed a 2-1 home defeat to city rivals Atletico Madrid.
Head-to-Head
The sides most recently met in a club friendly in 2019, with Roma winning 3-2.
Their previous competitive encounters came during the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League campaign. Real Madrid completed the double over Roma, scoring five goals without reply across the two matches.

Real Madrid 2.00
Verdict
Roma’s eight-match unbeaten run suggests they will make life difficult for Real Madrid, particularly at home.
The visitors have not been entirely convincing in recent weeks, but they possess greater quality across the pitch and have an excellent recent competitive record against Roma. At even money, I am backing Real Madrid to collect all three points.

Manchester City v PSG
Manchester City were too strong for Porto in their opening UEFA Champions League match, winning 2-0 on the road thanks to two second-half goals from Erling Haaland.
Despite their off-field controversies, City have now won eight consecutive matches across all competitions. That run includes their impressive 3-0 away victory over Liverpool at the weekend, while they have scored 13 goals in their last three competitive fixtures.
PSG had few problems against Slovan Bratislava in their opening match, recording a commanding 6-1 victory. They scored three goals in each half, with Ferran Torres completing a hat-trick.
After experiencing some indifferent form a few weeks ago, PSG have responded with four successive victories. Their latest result was a 3-1 home win over Le Mans in the league.
Head-to-Head
The sides most recently met in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, when PSG recorded a thrilling 4-2 home victory.

Verdict
This is the standout fixture of the night, with two of Europe’s strongest attacking teams going head-to-head.
Both sides arrive in excellent form and have been scoring freely. There should be goalmouth action at both ends, but there may be very little separating the teams after 90 minutes.
My main selection is the draw with both teams scoring at 4.50. I am also having a smaller interest in the 2-2 correct score at an attractive 11.00.

BET: Correct Score – Manchester City 2-2 PSG at 11.00
