We look at the International Friendly match taking place on Friday the 27th of March at the Moses Mabhiba Stadium in Durban between South Africa and Panama and suggest a bet in the game.
SOUTH AFRICA vs PANAMA
South Africa have produced mixed but competitive results in their recent international friendlies as well as African Cup of Nations matches. In their most recent outing, they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Cameroon but prior to that they secured an impressive 3-2 away victory over Zimbabwe. Before that they lost 1-0 away to Egypt but had picked up a 2-1 home victory over Angola and a 1-0 win against Ghana. Earlier in their friendly schedule they also recorded a solid 3-1 victory over Zambia.
Overall, South Africa have been relatively strong at home and have shown they are capable of scoring goals regularly, although they have also conceded in several of their recent matches which suggests they can be vulnerable defensively at times.
Panama who like South Africa are heading to the World Cup, come into this fixture in fairly solid form across their recent international matches. They suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mexico in their latest friendly but had previously played out a 1-1 draw away to Bolivia. Before that they recorded a convincing 3-0 home victory over El Salvador and a strong 3-2 away win against Guatemala during World Cup Qualifiers.
Earlier results included a 1-1 draw against Suriname, a 1-0 away victory over El Salvador and a goalless draw away to Suriname. Panama have generally been well organised defensively and have been competitive in most of their recent matches, particularly against teams of a similar level.
Head-to-Head
The only recorded meeting between these sides came in the 2005 Gold Cup where Panama secured a 2-1 victory over South Africa on opposition soil.

Verdict
This looks like a fairly even international friendly on paper with both teams producing competitive results in recent matches. South Africa tend to perform well at home and usually play with attacking intent while Panama are organised and capable of scoring, especially on the counterattack. With both sides showing the ability to find the net in recent fixtures but also conceding goals, this match could produce chances at both ends. I expect a competitive friendly where both teams contribute on the scoreboard.
