SATURDAY
Espanyol vs Atletico Madrid
Espanyol have made an inconsistent start to their LaLiga campaign and they are in 12th position on 8 points. Their last five League results have produced one win, two draws and two defeats.
Their victory was a 2-0 away meeting at Osasuna. The two defeats came at home to Elche losing 1-3, and away to Rayo Vallecano 1-2. Away they drew against Malaga and at home against Sevilla both by the same scoreline, 1-1.
Atletico Madrid have been in much better form, winning four of their last five LaLiga matches with one defeat. Their four wins consisted of two home meetings, 2-1 to Real Madrid and 4-0 to Osasuna and two away matches, 2-1 against Alaves and 3-0 at Real Sociedad. Their 3-0 loss came at Athletic Bilbao.
They are on 19 points and 2nd in the standings having scored 18 goals and conceded just 8 goals across all eight matches.
Head-to-HeadeadH
They have had one victory each in their last six head-to-head LaLiga meetings with the other four ending in draws.

Espanyol 4.50
Draw 3.85
Atletico Madrid 1.80
Verdict
Atletico Madrid have the stronger recent form and are worthy favourites on that basis. Espanyol will have home advantage, but their inconsistent results make this a difficult assignment and I am backing the visitors to take 3 points.
BET: Atletico Madrid win at 1.80
Real Betis vs Barcelona
Real Betis are 3rd in the standings on 19 points with six wins, one draw and one defeat in their 8 matches. They have scored 14 goals with 9 conceded.
In their last five LaLiga meetings they have had one draw and four wins. The 1-1 draw was against Deportivo de A Coruna. Round 8 was a 5-2 home win against Osasuna, and they had 1-0 home wins against Getafe and Real Madrid. They were away to Villarreal in Round 6 where they had a 2-1 victory.
Barcelona top the League standings on 24 points. They have made an outstanding start to the season, remaining unbeaten with eight wins from eight matches. They have a goal difference of 27 after scoring 34 goals and only conceding 7.
They have been prolific in their goal-scoring and looking at their last five LaLiga matches they had two home meetings, winning 3-0 against Getafe and a thrilling 7-2 against Racing Santander. Their three other away matches ended 3-1 at Sevilla, 4-2 at Levante and another big score of 5-0 at Valencia.
Head-to-Head
Looking at their last 6 LaLiga head-to-heads, Barcelona have never been beaten with four victories and two draws. In the Copa Del Rey in 2025/26 they won 5-1.

Real Betis 6.00
Draw 5.75
Barcelona 1.44
Verdict
Barcelona have made a sensational start to the LaLiga season, winning all eight matches and scoring 34 goals. Real Betis have also been impressive, winning six of their eight games, including a 5-2 victory over Osasuna in their last outing. I can’t look past an away win here but I fancy the home team to get on the scoresheet.

SUNDAY
Real Madrid vs Sevilla
Real Madrid sit 4th in the LaLiga standings with 18 points from eight matches, having won six and lost two. They have scored 19 goals and conceded 8.
Their last five LaLiga matches have produced three wins and two defeats. They beat Villarreal 1-0 and Rayo Vallecano 4-1 at home, while securing a 3-2 victory away against Elche. Their defeats came away at Atletico Madrid, where they lost 2-1, and Real Betis where they were beaten 1-0.
Sevilla occupy 5th position with 14 points from eight matches. They have won four, drawn two and lost 2, scoring 13 goals and conceding 12.
In their last five LaLiga meetings Sevilla drew 1-1 away against Espanyol and played out a 3-3 draw away to Levante in their latest match on 12 October. They also recorded a 1-0 away victory against Deportivo A Coruna and a 1-0 home win over Valencia. Their remaining match ended in a 1-3 home defeat by Barcelona.
Head-to-Head
Real Madrid have dominated this fixture in recent seasons, winning five of their last six LaLiga meetings with Sevilla, with the other encounter ending in a draw.

Real Madrid 1.26
Draw 6.75
Sevilla 10.00
Verdict
Real Madrid look hard to oppose but I think Sevilla can frustrate them and the last 3 meetings between the sides have seen under 2.5 goal backers collect. I am going for Real to win but with 2 goals or less in the game.
BET: Match result and over/under 2.5 goals: Real Madrid and under at 4.50
