The second round of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League continues on Sunday the 27th of September with both Group 4 fixtures on the programme. Denmark welcome Wales before Norway host Portugal. All four sides played their opening matches on Thursday, leaving Denmark and Wales looking for their first points while Norway and Portugal aim to build on victories. Denmark began their Nations League campaign with a 3-2 defeat away to Norway on Thursday. They found the net twice in a closely contested Group 4 opener but returned home without a point after conceding three times.
The Danes now have a quick opportunity to respond in front of their own supporters. Their attacking display against Norway offered encouragement, although they will want a more secure defensive performance against Wales.
Wales also suffered an opening defeat, losing 1-0 away to Portugal. They kept the contest close but were unable to find an equaliser, leaving them in search of their first goal and points of the campaign after conceding in the 22nd minute.
A second consecutive away fixture presents another challenge for Wales. Their narrow loss to Portugal showed they can are competitive at this level, but they will need to create more chances to take something from Denmark.

The Danes won all three of the most recent meetings, beating Wales home and away in the 2018/19 Nations League before securing a 4-0 victory at the Euro in 2020.

Verdict
Both sides need a response after losing their opening fixtures. Denmark scored twice away to Norway and have won their last three meetings with Wales while the visitors failed to score against Portugal. Wales showed enough defensive resistance to suggest this may be closer than the odds indicate but Denmark’s home advantage and attacking strength make a strong case for all three points and I believe they will get the job done without conceding.

Norway opened their campaign with a 3-2 home victory over Denmark. They took all three points from an entertaining contest and enter this fixture at the top of Group 4 on goals scored.
Norway’s three goals underlined their attacking threat, though conceding twice showed there is room to improve at the back. They will again have home advantage when Portugal visit and win once again rely on Erling Haaland upfront after his two goals against Denmark.
Portugal began with a 1-0 home victory over Wales. A clean sheet and three points gave them a steady start to their Nations League campaign even if they failed to dominate the visitors as they might of expected.
They now face an away trip against a Norway side that scored three times in their opener. Despite that Portugal’s defensive display against Wales provides a useful foundation for what looks set to be a demanding second fixture.

Verdict
Norway bring momentum and home advantage into this meeting after their five-goal thriller with Denmark. Portugal were less prolific against Wales but secured a victory without conceding. With both teams on three points and little separating them in the market, Norway’s attacking flair in the opening round gives them a slight edge and I am backing them to make it two wins from two.
