SATURDAY
MANCHESTER CITY vs LIVERPOOL
Manchester City booked their place in this clash after a 3-1 victory away to Newcastle in the previous round and they followed it up with another strong Cup display when beating Arsenal 2-0 in their latest outing in the EFL Cup.
Their recent domestic form has remained solid overall. City drew 1-1 away to West Ham in their last league match and before that recorded a 1-0 win at Leeds while also edging Newcastle 2-1 at home.
Liverpool reached this stage with an impressive 3-1 win away over Wolves in the previous round after earlier seeing off Brighton 3-0.
Their latest match in the league ended in a 2-1 away defeat to Brighton, but they had previously drawn 1-1 with Tottenham and recorded a commanding 5-2 home victory over West Ham.
Head-to-Head
City won 2-1 at Anfield in February after recording a 3-0 home victory over Liverpool in November, although Liverpool did complete a league double over City last season with 2-0 wins both home and away.

Manchester City 1.77
Draw 4.00
Liverpool 4.00
Verdict
Manchester City have been stronger in the recent head-to-head meetings and arrive with the more reliable overall form. Liverpool always carry a threat in attack but City’s control and quality in these high-profile contests make them my pick here.
BET: Manchester City to Win at 1.77
CHELSEA vs PORT VALE
Chelsea secured their place in this tie with a 4-2 away win over Wrexham in the last round after also beating Hull 4-0 away from home earlier in the competition.
Their Cup form has been strong, but their recent domestic and European results have been mixed. Chelsea come into this clash on the back of a 3-0 league defeat away to Everton and had also lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle before suffering a 3-0 home defeat to PSG in Europe.
Port Vale have been one of the surprise packages in the competition. They reached the Quarter-Final after beating Sunderland 1-0 at home, having earlier edged Bristol City by the same scoreline and also seen off Bolton and Fleetwood in prior rounds.
Their latest form across all competitions has been less convincing. Port Vale were beaten 4-0 away to Wycombe in their most recent match and before that lost 1-0 at Doncaster.
Head-to-Head
These sides have no previous meetings on record, which adds an interesting angle to this cup clash as Port Vale attempt to cause a huge upset against Premier League opposition.

Chelsea 1.06
Draw 12.00
Port Vale 29.00
Verdict
Chelsea have been inconsistent of late, but this looks like a favourable opportunity for them to respond against a lower-league side. Port Vale deserve credit for their Cup run, although Chelsea’s superior quality should prove far too much over the 90 minutes.

SOUTHAMPTON vs ARSENAL
Southampton have put together an impressive run in the competition, beating Fulham 1-0 away in the previous fixture after edging Leicester 2-1 at home and earlier overcoming Doncaster 3-2.
Their latest domestic action has also been excellent. They come into this match on the back of a 2-0 home win over Oxford United and had previously beaten Norwich 1-0 and Coventry 2-1, extending a strong unbeaten spell.
Arsenal progressed after a 2-1 away win against Mansfield in the most recent round, having earlier beaten Wigan 4-0.
Their most recent league encounter ended in a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City but before that they had been in fine form with a 2-0 victories over Everton and Bayer Leverkusen in Europe as well as a 1-0 away win over Brighton.
Head-to-Head
Arsenal won 2-1 away to Southampton in May last year after recording a 3-1 home success earlier in that same season.

Southampton 9.00
Draw 5.75
Arsenal 1.29
Verdict
Southampton are in excellent form and have built real momentum, but Arsenal look the stronger side overall and have been producing the goods regularly against quality opposition. The home team can make this competitive, although I believe Arsenal should still have enough class to come through.

SUNDAY
WEST HAM vs LEEDS
West Ham booked their place in the Quarter-Final after a 3-2 home victory over Brentford after penalties in the Round of 16, having earlier edged Burton 1-0 away and beaten QPR 2-1 in extra time.
Their recent domestic form has been mixed. The side lost 2-0 away to Aston Villa in their most recent match, although before that they held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw and claimed a 1-0 away win at Fulham.
Leeds reached this stage after a 3-0 home win over Norwich when they met roughly a month ago, having earlier beaten Birmingham 2-1 away in penalties and Derby 3-1 away in the competition.
Their recent league performances have been steady rather than spectacular. Leeds drew 0-0 with Brentford in their latest outing and had previously played out another goalless draw away to Crystal Palace.
Head-to-Head
Leeds won the most recent meeting between the sides 2-1 at home in October. Prior to that West Ham recorded a 3-1 home victory in May 2023, while another clash in January 2023 ended in a 2-2 draw.

West Ham 2.40
Draw 3.50
Leeds 2.75
Verdict
This looks a closely matched tie between two sides who have shown mixed, but competitive recent form. West Ham have been the more threatening side going forward, while Leeds have drawn plenty of matches and can be difficult to break down. There looks to be enough value in backing a tight contest.
BET: Draw at 3.50
