NEWCASTLE UNITED vs EVERTON
Newcastle United returned to winning ways in the league with a 2-0 victory away to Crystal Palace last weekend. That result followed successive defeats, losing 4-1 at Coventry before suffering a narrow 1-0 home reverse against Aston Villa.
The side occupy 8th position overall with 11 points from eight fixtures, having recorded three victories, two draws and three defeats. They have scored 12 goals and conceded 14 with their earlier results including a 2-1 home win over Hull City and a 4-1 defeat away to Leeds United.
Everton sit three places below Newcastle in 11th holding 10 points from eight league matches. Two victories, four draws and two defeats have produced 8 goals scored although they have let 9 shots past their own keeper.
Their latest league outing ended in a 2-0 defeat away to Arsenal, following a loss by the same scoreline at home to Chelsea. Everton had previously drawn 2-2 with Hull City after beating Ipswich Town 1-0 although Thursday’s 3-1 EFL Cup victory over Newcastle provides encouragement ahead of this trip.
Head-to-Head:
Everton have won four of the last six meetings across all competitions and friendlies, including their 3-1 home victory in the EFL Cup on Thursday. They also beat Newcastle 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in August.
Last season’s league encounters produced an away victory apiece. Newcastle won 4-1 at Everton in November before Everton claimed a 3-2 success at St James’ Park in February.

Newcastle United 2.40
Draw 3.65
Everton 3.00
Verdict:
Newcastle’s victory over Crystal Palace offered a welcome response to consecutive league defeats, but their midweek loss to Everton raises doubts about backing them at these prices. Conceding 14 goals in eight league fixtures also highlights their defensive vulnerability.
Everton can take confidence from Thursday’s result and their victory at this ground last season. However, they have gone three league matches without a win and failed to score in their last two making an away victory a difficult call.
Only one point separates the sides and neither has delivered consistent league results. Newcastle have home advantage, while Everton have enjoyed the better of recent meetings, so I am backing a stalemate.
BET: Draw at 3.65
