LIVERPOOL vs ARSENAL
Liverpool ended Brighton’s four match winning run with a convincing 2-0 victory at Anfield last weekend. That result followed a 2-1 success away to Brentford, giving the Reds consecutive league victories after their disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City.
Those results have lifted Liverpool to 4th position with 15 points from eight fixtures. They have scored 11 goals and conceded 8 while their earlier outings included a narrow 1-0 victory at Bournemouth and a goalless home draw against Fulham.
Arsenal occupy 2nd position on the log with 21 points after winning seven of their opening eight league matches. Their return of 13 goals scored and only 5 shipped at the back reflects a strong start, although Liverpool represent another demanding test.
The side have responded to their 3-0 defeat to Brighton with three straight victories. A 2-1 home success against Leeds was followed by a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest before they beat Everton 2-0 last weekend.
Head-to-Head:
Liverpool took four points from last season’s league meetings, winning 1-0 at Anfield in August before the sides played out a goalless draw on Arsenal soil in January.
Both encounters in the previous campaign finished 2-2, leaving Liverpool unbeaten across their last four Premier League meetings with the Gunners.

Verdict:
Arsenal’s three successive victories underline their ability to recover from a setback with consecutive clean sheets providing further encouragement. However, their defeat against Brighton remains a reminder of the difficulties they have faced away from home.
Liverpool should approach this encounter with renewed confidence after beating Brentford and Brighton. Keeping Brighton’s prolific attack quiet was particularly encouraging, while their recent league record against Arsenal adds to the case for another competitive performance at Anfield.
The visitors have produced the stronger overall start, but Liverpool’s improvement makes this a difficult fixture to call. With three of the last four league meetings ending level, I am backing another share of the points and I would be surprised if we don’t see goals.
