Round 5 of the URC brings four intriguing matches for the South African sides. The Lions travel to unbeaten Glasgow, the Stormers host Ulster, the Bulls welcome Scarlets and the Sharks face Munster in Limerick. All four fixtures offer numerous betting opportunities, but team rotation and some sharp market moves make selection important.
FRIDAY
Glasgow Warriors v Lions — Click here to bet
Glasgow are second on the URC table with 18 points from four matches, having won three and drawn one. Their 24–20 win at Benetton last weekend kept their unbeaten league record intact. The Lions have slipped to 11th following a 31–10 defeat at Edinburgh, their second successive URC loss after the heavy defeat to the Bulls.
Head-to-Head
The sides have split their six previous meetings three wins apiece, with every victory going to the home team. Glasgow won the last meeting at Scotstoun 42–0, although the Lions won the most recent encounter 54–12 in Johannesburg.
Betting and Verdict
Glasgow 1.36, draw 26.00, Lions 3.65. Glasgow are giving the Lions an 8.5-point start, with Lions +8.5 available at 1.93.
The Lions have struggled on tour, but the handicap has come in substantially from Glasgow −14.5 earlier in the week. At +14.5 I was undecided but even without some of their internationals I cannot resist the home team at the current line.
Suggested Bet: Glasgow Warriors −8.5 at 1.87

SATURDAY
Stormers v Ulster — Click here to bet
The Stormers are fourth with 16 points from four matches. They followed a 39–22 victory over the Sharks with a thrilling 52–40 win over Scarlets, but conceding 40 points at home was a warning. Ulster sit 13th after two draws and two defeats, most recently losing 34–26 to the Bulls in Pretoria.
Head-to-Head
Across six previous URC meetings, the Stormers have three wins, Ulster two and one match was drawn. The Stormers have won all three Cape Town meetings, but only by six, two and three points.
Betting and Verdict
Stormers 1.10, draw 41.00, Ulster 8.50. The handicap is Stormers −16.5, with Ulster +16.5 at 1.91.
The handicap has moved four points towards the Stormers since the early −12.5 line. The home side have more attacking quality, but their recent defensive lapses and the history of close Cape Town meetings make this a big number. The Stormers have also rotated their squad, with Yaqeen Ahmed starting at flyhalf and Bongi Mbonambi on the bench.
Suggested Bet: Ulster +16.5 at 1.91.
Bulls v Scarlets — Click here to bet
The Bulls are third on the table after beating the Lions 57–15 in Round 3 and Ulster 34–26 last weekend. Scarlets pushed the Stormers hard in Cape Town before going down 52–40. That attacking display offers encouragement, but their defence remains a concern.
Head-to-Head
The Bulls have won three of the last five meetings, including emphatic Pretoria victories by 63–21 in 2023 and 57–12 in 2022.
Betting and Verdict
Bulls 1.03, draw 61.00, Scarlets 17.00. The Bulls are now −25.5, with the home handicap priced at 1.95.
The Bulls have the firepower to win comfortably, particularly at Loftus, but the market has moved four points against anyone backing them since the earlier −21.5 line. They have also made eight changes to their starting side. Scarlets scored 40 against the Stormers and a 26-point winning margin is a demanding target.
Suggested Bet: Wait for the total points line and go overs if it is under 67.5.
Munster v Sharks — Click here to bet
Munster are ninth with 10 points from four URC games and lost 24–18 to Leinster last weekend. The Sharks are fifth with 15 points and come into the fixture after an impressive 36–21 win at Cardiff.
Head-to-Head
The Sharks have enjoyed the better of recent meetings, including a 45–0 win in Durban in March 2026. Two of the recent matches ended level, one being decided by a post-match kicking shootout. Munster won 34–21 in Limerick in October 2023.
Betting and Verdict
Munster 1.77, draw 22.00, Sharks 2.30. Munster are −2.5, while Sharks +2.5 is priced at 1.83.
The Sharks have shown encouraging form on the road, and Munster have been inconsistent. Munster can certainly win at Thomond Park, but a single historical victory by 13 points does not make a convincing case for covering this handicap. The Sharks are without André Esterhuizen, with Ethan Hooker moving to inside centre and they can beat a Munster side missing a few players themselves.
Suggested Bet: Sharks win at 2.30
