This week’s Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour with Fedex Cup points up for grabs. We take a look at the warm up event to the Open Championship from a betting angle.
The Tournament will be played at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick and the course plays to a par 70 and is hosting the Scottish Open for a 4th consecutive year. Crowds at the course have been treated to thrilling finishes in recent years with the last 3 renewals all finishing in a playoff. When conditions are calm the course plays fairly easy although it was toughened up a bit a couple of years ago and I think we are unlikely to get a score like the -22 Wiesberger got in 2019.
Links courses tend to bring out the specialists so looking for players who have been there and done that around links courses is a good place to start. Also keep an eye on the weather as the wind can change a lot during the day and when it gets up this course is a completely different beast.
Jon Rahm and Master Champions Scottie Scheffler share favouritism at the top of the betting boards at 12/1 with PGA Champion, Justin Thomas 14/1 and Xander Schauffele and US Open Champion Matthew Fitzpatrick priced at 20/1. You can get 22/1 and better the balance.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout is 3/1 to be the Top South African – Click here to bet on that market and he is the shortest price in the Outright Markets at a tempting 90/1.

SELECTIONS:
Matthew Fitzpatrick each way at 20/1
Fitzpatrick was a runner-up here last season and he is of course coming off a thrilling win in the US Open in his last start. There was plenty of consistent form heading into the US Open. Fitzpatrick strikes me as a type of player who will take winning a major in his stride and if anything will kick on with renewed confidence.
Lucas Herbert each way at 66/1
Looking at course stats Lucas Herbert caught the eye as he finished 4th in the last two seasons. He also warmed up for this event with a solid Top 10 finish last week and the Aussie looks well priced to contend in Scotland.
Ryan Fox each way at 40/1
Fox is in cracking form with a runner-up finish and a Top 3 in his last two starts. He also had a couple of runner-up finishes a few weeks back and has been knocking hard on the door. One concern about Fox is that he doesn’t have any course form to speak of with two missed cuts and a Top 45 finish last season, but the way he is playing at the moment I am backing him to break that door down.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout each way at 90/1
Like Fox, Bezuidenhout doesn’t have the greatest of course form, but is a guy who has showed he knows his way around the links golf course. Looking at recent form, Bezuidenhout was runner-up last week and although he tends to blow hot and cold with that kind of form I am more than happy to have him at this price.
