FedEx ST. Jude Championship 2026 Betting Preview

The FedEx Cup Playoffs are upon us this week as the FedEx St. Jude Championship kicks off the post-season at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

This is the first of three playoff events, and the top 72 players from the regular-season standings have made the field. They will be battling it out over four days to move up the standings and secure their place in next week’s event, with the leaderboard cutting down further as the playoffs progress towards the season-ending Tour Championship.

The stakes are enormous and we should be treated to four days of very high-quality golf.

Course

TPC Southwind is a stern test of PGA Tour golf and one of the more demanding regular stops on the calendar. The layout requires accurate driving, sharp iron play and precise course management, with winning scores here tending to sit around -15 to -17 rather than the ridiculous 20-plus-under totals we see at some other stops. Par 4 scoring is going to be absolutely critical this week and TPC Southwind features 11 par 4s that put a huge amount of pressure on ball-striking and approach play. Players who can consistently make pars and birdies while staying out of trouble across those holes tend to find themselves in the mix come Sunday.

Alongside par 4 scoring, Greens in Regulation is the other key stat we will be leaning on heavily this week. TPC Southwind punishes anything less than sharp approach play, miss a green here and you are likely staring down a tough up-and-down from thick Bermuda rough. Players who consistently hit greens give themselves the chance to attack pins with makeable birdie putts, which is exactly what you need at a course where the winning score doesn’t sit dramatically deep in red figures. Combine strong GIR numbers with quality par 4 scoring and you have the profile of a genuine contender this week in Memphis.

Past Winners

2025     Justin Rose (England)                                    -16         Playoff

2024     Hideki Matsuyama (Japan)                        -17         2 Strokes

2023     Lucas Glover (United States)                    -15         Playoff

2022     Will Zalatoris (United Sates)                     -15         Playoff

2021     Tony Finau (United States)                         -20         Playoff

World Number One Scottie Scheffler is unsurprisingly at the top of the market at 5.50, well clear of the field as usual. Rory McIlroy is next in at 15.00, followed by Xander Schauffele at 19.00. Cameron Young, Sam Burns and Tommy Fleetwood are available at 21.00, while Justin Thomas rounds out the top of the boards at 26.00. Plenty of quality throughout the top of the market and no shortage of value to be found across the each-way selections.

Rory McIlroy                     15.00

Xander Schauffele         19.00

Tommy Fleetwood         21.00

Cameron Young               21.00

Sam Burns                         21.00

SELECTIONS:

Tommy Fleetwood at 21.00

Fleetwood is our first pick of the week. The Englishman has recorded six top-15 finishes in his last six tournaments, including two top-fives. The most recent of those two top-fives came at the Open, where he finished in fourth place, just three shots off the lead. Fleetwood also has a strong record at this week’s tournament, with three top-fives in his last six starts including third-place finishes in both 2025 and 2023. He was also able to secure his first PGA Tour win at around this time last season, and with the level of golf he is currently playing, we think he can card his second at a course that clearly suits him.

Suggested bet: Tommy Fleetwood each way at 21.00.

Sam Burns at 21.00

Sam Burns has had quite an impressive season, especially towards the tail end. In his last five starts he has three top-five finishes, a 12th and a 20th-place finish. His three top-fives came at the Memorial Tournament, where he finished fourth, the US Open where he finished runner-up, and the Open where he finished third. That run just goes to show the level of golf he is able to play in big tournaments against the very best in the world. Burns is also currently ranked second on tour for par 4 scoring, only behind Scottie Scheffler himself. For those two reasons we think we could see a big attempt from Burns this weekend, and we like him at 21.00.

Suggested bet: Sam Burns each way at 21.00.

Patrick Cantlay at 36.00

A bit of an outsider pick, but someone who always seems to do well at the St. Jude Championship. Cantlay has finished 9th, 12th and second in his last three starts at this tournament. He is also ranked 6th on tour for par 4 scoring average and 35th for Greens in Regulation, ticking both of our key boxes for this week. TPC Southwind is a course that clearly suits Cantlay, and we think this represents a great opportunity for him to kick off a strong tail end to the season.

Suggested bet: Patrick Cantlay each way at 36.00.
