The PGA Tour heads to Japan this week for the Baycurrent Classic, played at Yokohama Country Club. It is a rare chance to see the best players in the world on the other side of the globe, and the event has already built an impressive roll of honour, with Xander Schauffele, Nico Echavarria, Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama among its past Champions.
With a strong field assembled, home hero Matsuyama in the mix and several players arriving in good form, this promises to be an entertaining week. The course should suit players who are striking the ball well, and form coming into the week will be key, so we have looked for players with strong recent results. Here is our full betting preview, including our selections.
Course
Yokohama Country Club is a par 71 measuring around 7,300 yards (6,689 meters), and the field will play a composite of the two courses, with 16 holes from the West Course, which was remodelled by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2016, and two from the East Course. It is a layout of rolling terrain, undulating fairways and dense pine trees, with wide, inviting fairways in places but some tighter dogleg holes that narrow right down. The greens are bentgrass.
From a betting perspective, the layout is made up of 13 par 4s, three par 3s and just two par 5s, so the par 4s do much of the work and good iron play is key. With only two par 5s on offer, birdie opportunities have to be created with the approach shot, which tends to favour accurate ball strikers who can find fairways and attack the pins. Winning scores in recent years have been between 14 and 20 under par, and three of the last five editions were won by a single stroke, so the tournament can come right down to the wire. Look for players who hit their irons well and putt well on bentgrass, and who can stay calm when the pressure builds on the closing holes.

Xander Schauffele heads the betting at 11.00 as the defending Champion, with Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa next at 17.00. Home favourite Hideki Matsuyama is at 19.00, while Ryan Gerard and Justin Thomas are both at 21.00.
Morikawa and Matsuyama have also won here before, so the market is packed with players who know how to win this event. Further down the list there are several players in good recent form, and that is where we have focused our selections this week.

SELECTIONS:
Jacob Bridgeman at 23.00
Bridgeman comes into this week in excellent form, having won the Biltmore Championship in his most recent individual start. Prior to that, he finished fourth at the Tour Championship and ninth at the BMW Championship. He has enjoyed a stellar season, winning twice on the PGA Tour, and I think he can carry that momentum into this week.
Suggested bet: Jacob Bridgeman each way at 23.00
Michael Brennan at 34.00
Brennan is another player who enters this week off the back of a solid run of form. He is coming off the back of a 13th place finish last week at the Black Desert Championship. His previous start prior to that was the BMW Championship where he finished in 10th place. Brennan picked up his second PGA Tour title, and his first of the 2026 season, at the Wyndham Championship just a couple of months ago and with that weight off his shoulders I think we could see some more special things from him.
Suggested bet: Michael Brennan each way at 34.00
Wyndham Clark at 17.00
Clark had a brilliant season this year winning his second US Open as well as the BMW Championship and the CJ Cup. It was a season full of big moments, and it showed just what he is capable of when his game is firing, and that is exactly why he is a player we want to be on. He enters this week after a short break, which should leave him fresh and ready to go, and with that kind of winning pedigree I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in contention yet again.
Suggested bet: Wyndham Clark each way at 17.00
