South Africa take on the West Indies in East London on Thursday in the first of a 3 match ODI series and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.
Let’s start with a look at the Series Winner betting where South Africa are currently priced as 2/9 favourites ahead of the West Indies 33/10. There are other markets such as Top South African Bowler where Lungi Ngidi is trading as an 11/4 favourite and Quinton de Kock is the 2/1 favourite to be the Top South African Batsman. South Africa are 11/10 to win the Series 3-0.

SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa wrapped up the 2 match Test Series 2-0 without really been stretched and attention now turns to the ODI’s with South Africa’s last action a 2-1 home series victory over England. They won the first 2 ODI’s against the English and then went down by 59 runs in the 3rd ODI in Kimberley.
Temba Bavuma will captain the South African squad and a number of players including Anrich Nortje are being rested.
WEST INDIES
The West Indies most recent ODI action was in August where they took a 1-0 series lead at home to New Zealand, but lost the 2nd and 3rd ODI’s to lose the Series. West Indies have only won 1 of their last 13 ODI’s. Shai Hope will captain the West Indies team.

South Africa 2/7
West Indies 28/10
I am not going to get involved in the match market at this point with South Africa being such short priced favourites, but if the West Indies make a strong start there could be opportunities to back the Proteas at better prices in-running.
Suggested Bet: South Africa Top Bowler, Gerald Coetzee at 22/10
I was very impressed with him in the Wanderers Test Match and he looks like the sort of player who thrives on momentum and will take plenty of confidence heading into this game.
Suggested Bet: West Indies Top Batsman, Jason Holder at 10/1
As the price suggests this is a speculative play that he comes down the order, but the West Indies batting line up is fragile and there is every chance he gets a decent stay at the crease. He showed at the Wanderers that he is in excellent nick and if you can get 15 to 20 overs he could well deliver this one.
