The DP World Tour heads to New Delhi this week for the DP World India Championship, played from 15 to 18 October at Delhi Golf Club. The tournament carries a $4 million prize fund, the largest ever offered by a DP World Tour event in India, and it has attracted a strong field headed by Rory McIlroy, Patrick Reed, Aaron Rai and Ryan Fox.
Tommy Fleetwood returns to defend the title he won at the inaugural event last year, and there are plenty of in-form players in the field. With a mix of established stars and players arriving off the back of strong results, we have been through the form guide to find the players we like best. Here is our full betting preview for the week.
The Course
The tournament is played on the Lodhi course at Delhi Golf Club, a par 72 that is unlike anything else on the calendar. The course was built around more than a dozen historic Mughal-era monuments, with tombs poking up through the trees, and it is also home to peacocks, monkeys and mongooses. It is a beautiful setting, but it is also a demanding golf course, with narrow fairways and dense tree cover.
From a betting perspective, the layout places a strong emphasis on accuracy and course management rather than length, which means long hitters are not necessarily at an advantage. Players who keep the ball in play and give themselves chances with their approach play should be best placed, which is why we have focused on accurate, in-form players this week. Last year Fleetwood won at 22 under par, so low scoring is possible for those who find the fairways. That makes the course a good fit for players with a strong all-round game and good control of their iron play, and those are the traits we have looked for in our selections.

Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy are the joint favourites at 8.50, with Shane Lowry next best at 15.00. Aaron Rai, Min Woo Lee and Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra are all at 17.00, so there is plenty of competition behind the top two. With so many players priced closely together, it is a market with plenty of options for those looking for value. Fleetwood won last year but the course does not necessarily favour the biggest names, so there is a case for looking a little further down the list for each-way value, which is where all three of our selections come in.

Tommy Fleetwood 8.50
Rory McIlroy 8.50
Shane Lowry 15.00
Aaron Rai 17.00
Min Woo Lee 17.00
Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra 17.00
Selections:
Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra
Lopez-Chacarra comes into this week in superb form, with three top 5 finishes in his last five starts. Most recently he was runner-up last week at the Open de Espana, and before that he finished third at the Open de France and fourth at the Omega European Masters. It has been a solid season for the Spaniard, and with that kind of consistency we are happy to back him each way at 17.00. He will be looking to carry that form into a week where accuracy off the tee should be rewarded, and a player who keeps finishing near the top of leaderboards looks worth backing at the current price.
Suggested bet: Eugenio Chacarra each way at 17.00.
Shane Lowry at 15.00
Lowry finished 13th at last weekend’s Open de Espana, 21st at the BMW Championship and first at his home open, the Irish Open, all in his last three starts. He suits the course, hitting the ball a little shorter but straighter, which is exactly what this tight, tree-lined layout rewards. He also finished in a tie for third at this event last year, so he knows what it takes to contend here, and with three starts of that quality behind him he looks a very fair price at 15.00.
Suggested bet: Shane Lowry each way at 15.00
Robert MacIntyre at 19.00
MacIntyre has put in a good run of results, finishing with two top 10s and a top 15 in his last three starts. He was 6th at the Alfred Dunhill Links, 10th at the BMW PGA Championship and 14th at the Irish Open. That is a consistent run, and I like him for another top 10 finish this week.
Suggested bet: Robert MacIntyre top 10 finish at 3.15.
All 3 of the selections are near the top of the betting boards and we will be studying again today and will be posting a long shot hope later today.
