FRIDAY:
REAL BETIS vs REAL MADRID
Real Betis occupy 7th position on the table with 6 points from their opening three matches. They began their campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Real Sociedad before claiming another narrow 1-0 win away to Valencia.
Their unbeaten start came to a dramatic end against Levante last weekend. Betis scored twice on the road but struggled defensively and eventually suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat.
Real Madrid have made a perfect start to the new season, winning all three league fixtures while scoring 10 goals and conceding only twice. They opened with a 2-1 victory away to Espanyol before producing consecutive dominant displays at home.
Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 and followed that result with an emphatic 4-0 triumph against Malaga. Their attacking unit has already shown its quality, and they enter this clash sitting 2nd on the table with 9 points.
Head-to-Head
Real Madrid have won two of the last six meetings between the sides, with Real Betis recording one victory and the other three fixtures ending level. Last season Madrid secured a commanding 5-1 home win before Betis held them to a 1-1 draw in the reverse encounter.

Real Betis 7.25
Draw 5.50
Real Madrid 1.40
Verdict
Betis produced two disciplined victories before their defensive weaknesses were exposed in the 5-2 defeat to Levante. Real Madrid have been far more convincing, winning all three matches and scoring eight goals across their last two outings. The visitors should have enough attacking quality to maintain their perfect start although I see both sides beating the keeper.

SATURDAY:
ATHLETIC BILBAO vs ATLETICO MADRID
Athletic Bilbao sit 12th on the table with 3 points after winning one and losing two of their opening three fixtures. They started with a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Sevilla before suffering a 2-0 loss away to Barcelona.
Bilbao responded strongly in their most recent match by defeating Celta Vigo 2-0 away from home.
Atletico Madrid remain unbeaten and occupy 3rd position with 7 points. They opened their campaign with a controlled 2-0 victory over Malaga before sharing the points with Villarreal in a 2-2 draw.
Atletico then delivered their strongest performance of the season against Sevilla, recording a convincing 3-1 victory away from home. They have scored seven goals across their three fixtures and arrive with positive momentum.
Head-to-Head
Atletico Madrid have won four of the last six meetings, while Athletic Bilbao have recorded two victories. Bilbao secured a 1-0 home win in this fixture last season, but Atletico responded by winning the return meeting 3-2.

Athletic Bilbao 3.00
Draw 3.40
Atletico Madrid 2.45
Verdict
Bilbao will take confidence from their victory over Celta Vigo and have previously troubled Atletico at this venue. However, the visitors have started the campaign with greater consistency and their attack looked particularly dangerous against Sevilla. Atletico appear well placed to avoid defeat in what should be a competitive contest.

SUNDAY:
VALENCIA vs BARCELONA
Valencia are 17th on the table with only 1 point from their opening three league matches. They began with a goalless draw against Celta Vigo before falling to a narrow 1-0 home defeat against Real Betis.
Their difficulties continued away to Deportivo La Coruna, where they conceded three times while only being able to produce 1 goal of their own.
Barcelona lead the standings after collecting the maximum 9 points from their first three fixtures. The defending champions opened their campaign with a dominant 5-0 victory away to Elche before defeating Athletic Bilbao 2-0.
The outfit then overcame Rayo Vallecano 5-2 in an entertaining encounter, taking their total to 12 goals in only three matches.
Head-to-Head
Barcelona have won five of the last six meetings between the teams, while Valencia’s only success came through a 3-1 home victory in May. Barcelona had won the previous four clashes by an aggregate score of 20-2, including a 6-0 league triumph and a 5-0 Copa del Rey victory last year.

Valencia 9.50
Draw 6.50
Barcelona 1.29
Verdict
Valencia have struggled to create chances and enter this clash without a victory after three matches. Barcelona have won every fixture and are scoring at an average of four goals per game. Although Valencia upset the champions at this venue last season, current form strongly favours the visitors, and I think they will get the job done without conceding.

ESPANYOL vs SEVILLA
Espanyol started their campaign impressively by defeating Levante 3-0 at home but have since suffered two narrow defeats.
Espanyol competed well against Real Madrid before losing 2-1 and were beaten by the same scoreline away to Real Sociedad. As a result of this the side are placed 11th on the table heading into the fourth round.
Sevilla are 6th on the table with 6 points after recording two wins and one defeat. They began the season with a 2-1 home victory over Rayo Vallecano and followed that up with an impressive 3-1 triumph away to Athletic Bilbao.
Their winning run ended against Atletico Madrid last weekend as they suffered a 3-1 home defeat and with the side being unable to keep a clean sheet they will come into this clash under pressure, relying on their attacking unit to take them over the line.
Head-to-Head
Sevilla have won four of the last six meetings, with Espanyol claiming one victory and the remaining encounter ending in a draw. Both teams scored in five of those six clashes, including each of their two meetings last season, which produced one 2-1 victory apiece.

Espanyol 2.35
Draw 3.25
Sevilla 3.40
Verdict
Espanyol have lost their last two matches but remained competitive against strong opposition and have scored in every game. Sevilla have also consistently found the net while conceding five goals across their opening three fixtures. With both teams showing attacking promise and defensive vulnerability, goals at each end look likely, making this my final pick of the weekend.
