We take a closer look at three of the PSL matches taking place on Friday and Saturday, including two fixtures which will have a direct bearing on the title race.
FRIDAY
Durban City vs Stellenbosch
Durban City are coming off a 2-all away draw against Siwelele in midweek, and the mood will be positive in the camp following their Nedbank Cup victory over TS Galaxy last Saturday. Overall though their recent League form hasn’t been great and despite sitting 7th on the log, they have only taken 2 points from the last 15 they have played for.
Stellenbosch are 10th on the table and have only won 1 of their last 5 matches. They were beaten 2-0 at home by Orlando Pirates in midweek and prior to that they were in Polokwane where they lost 1-0. Stellenbosch have conceded at least 1 goal in their last 8 League matches.
Head-to-Head
This fixture finished 0-0 at Stellenbosch earlier this season, the only recent meeting between the sides.

Durban City 2.80
Draw 2.90
Stellenbosch 2.90
Verdict
Stellenbosch have the looks of a side that is already looking ahead to next season, and I think that the Nedbank Cup Champions can grab the 3 points.
BET: Durban City win at 2.80

SATURDAY
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Siwelele
Mamelodi Sundowns are top of the table, 3 points ahead of Pirates who have a game in hand. They were involved in a crucial midweek clash at home to Kaizer Chiefs and came from behind to draw the game 1-1, a result which effectively means Pirates have the destiny of the PSL in their hands. While Sundowns have won 12 and drawn 3 of their last 15 PSL matches, those 3 draws have all come in their last 5 games
Siwelele are currently 9th on the log and on a 5-match unbeaten run that has seen them get 1 victory and 4 draws, 2 of those been goalless draws away to Golden Arrows and Marumo Gallants.
Head-to-Head
The only meeting between these sides was earlier this season in the Premiership where Siwelele held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw at home.

Mamelodi Sundowns 1.29
Draw 5.50
Siwelele 12.00
Verdict
Sundowns have a big CAF Cup fixture on the horizon, but they will know that they need a victory here, preferably a big one to keep the pressure on Orlando Pirates and I am betting on them to win by more than a goal.
BET: Asian Handicap, Sundowns -1.5 goals at 1.91
Magesi vs Orlando Pirates
It must have been a strange feeling for Pirates fans to be cheering on Chiefs in midweek, but they would have been delighted that Sundowns dropped the 2 points. Pirates have a superior goal difference so in theory at least are in control of their own destiny. They play a Magesi side that is sitting bottom of the table, but not yet certain to be relegated. Magesi’ s last outing was a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Orbit College, a game where they started 1.95 favourites, but their previous home game was a 5-2 victory over Durban City.
Since losing to Mamelodi Sundowns in the League, Pirates have gone 10 games without defeat with 7 victories and 3 draws. They were impressive in midweek beating Stellenbosch 2-0 on the road and their defence has been superb with only 12 goals conceded in 27 matches.
Head-to-Head
Orlando Pirates won the reverse fixture 2-0 earlier this season. The sides also met in the Carling Knockout at the end of last year with Pirates winning 2-1 at home and last season Magesi got a draw in Soweto 1-1, but lost 1-0 at home to Pirates

Magesi 9.50
Draw 4.50
Orlando Pirates 1.40
Verdict
Pirates will have seen the Sundowns result before they run onto the field, and more than likely they will know that victory is non-negotiable and I am going to back them to win without conceding.
BET: Match Result and Both Teams to Score, Orlando Pirates and No at 1.91
