F1 returns this weekend and the grid travels to the Suzuka Circuit in Japan for the Japanese Grand Prix. We look at this week’s race from a betting angle.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
After an enthralling Australian Grand Prix, where Carlos Sainz Jr took the chequered flag ahead of Leclerc and Norris, Max Verstappen still remains on top of the Drivers’ standings despite not adding to his points tally.
Leclerc has jumped into second place and sits only 4 points behind Verstappen, with 47 points, while Perez (5th in Australia) is in third place with 46 points, just 1 behind Leclerc.
Verstappen is still the huge favourite to win the Drivers’ Championship, trading at 1.10, while the second favourite, Sergio Perez, is trading at 18/1 and Charles Leclerc is trading at 20/1.

Japanese Grand Prix 2023
Last year’s Japanese Grand Prix was held much later in the calendar than this year, so the race may experience warmer conditions as Japan is in spring right now. Verstappen secured a comfortable victory last time out, winning the race by 19 seconds. McLaren put in a massive performance to secure the other two podium spots, with Norris finishing 2nd and Piastri finishing 3rd.

VERDICT
Verstappen will be hungry to get back to the winner’s spot after the unexpected end to the Australian GP. However, if another incident like that occurs, the door is wide open for the other drivers.
McLaren put in a solid performance at last year’s Japanese GP, as well as at the Australian GP two weeks ago, finishing 3rd and 4th. If they run a clean race and are on pace, then both cars and drivers have the ability to challenge for a podium spot.
Suggested Bet: Both McLarens top 6 finish at 1.83.
Carlos Sainz had a dream race at the Australian GP, outpacing his teammate to secure the win after Max Verstappen failed to finish the race. Sainz has proved this season that he has the pace to beat the rest of the field and even challenge both Red Bulls
Suggested Bet: Carlos Sainz Podium Finish at 1.90
