Worldy’s Won for the Weekend March 23 and 24
Greetings My Master – Kenilworth Race 8 Number 11 @ 7/2
Although coming into this race after a 4 month break, and with what looks like mediocre form on paper, our selection takes on a lot weaker this time around. Having run the highly thought of Questioning to 1.75 lengths on debut, Greetings My Master then went on to win his maiden at very cramped odds by a narrow margin over Lindbergh in his second start, with the 3rd place horse over 6.5 lengths further back, before finishing a length behind Hluhluwe in an incredibly strong Pinnacle Plate. He then contested 2 feature races where he finished midfield, but only 5 lengths and 2.75 lengths behind subsequent Grade 1 winners Snow Pilot and Green with Envy respectively, before finding the competition too hot in the Grade 2 Punters Cup over 1600m, where even then, at level weights, he finished 7 lengths behind Hluhluwe in a contest that also contained all of Snow Pilot, Green with Envy, Questioning and Tail of the Comet.
With Richard Fourie back in the irons, and with a handy galloping weight of 55kg, Greetings My Master looks the one to beat as he drops back to a more favourable 1400m.
Green Flash – Turffontein Race 4 Number 7 @ 6/1
After an impressive debut, in which she was heavily backed, our selection’s race was pretty much run at the start of her last race at the Vaal when she received bumps from both sides as she jumped out the gates and was never able to get competitive.
On Saturday she finds herself down in class and back at Turffontein, and if she reproduces her 1st run, a formline that has yielded 4 winners ( including 2 runners that finished 10 lengths and 11.75 lengths behind her ) she could very well record her 2nd victory at a very decent price.
Swing Upon a Star – Greyville Race 6 Number 8 @ 9/2
Sean Tarry will be looking to get his KZN campaign rolling early when he sends Swing Upon a Star out to contest a Pinnacle Stakes over 1200m on Sunday.
Already a Grade 2 winner over course and distance as a Juvenile, our selection has racked up an impressive career that includes a 6th place finish in the Merchants behind Grade 1 winner Dyce. His last 3 runs have yielded 2 wins – those wins separated by a 3 length beating by the super consistent Melech in a race that saw him also finish just under 2 lengths behind champion 3 year old Main Defender. Although needing to find 4 lengths on Gladatorian on the Dyce run, and receiving only 0.5 kg on Sunday, it would be no surprise to see him in the mix back at the course where he has recorded a win, 2nd and 3rd place in 3 runs.
