Another new stage town welcomes the Tour when the riders depart from Bayeux to Vire Normandie over a distance of 201.5km. Stage 6’s hilly profile and distance may reward riders who are prepared to risk all in the breakaway and we look at the stage from a betting angle and offer up a selection for consideration.
Stage 5 Review
Remco Evenepoel the 1.25 favourite justified his short price beating Pogacar home by 16 seconds in the 3km ITT. Pogacar moved into Yellow but the big surprise of the day was his market rival Vingegaard losing over a minute.
Good news for those that followed our Pogacar pick at 11.00 is that you can get your stake back with him finishing 2nd – see promo below the peview.
Outright Betting Update
There is some movement in the Yellow Jersey Betting with Pogacar shortening from 1.35 to 1.20 after his powerful showing in the ITT. Vingegaard is out from 3.25 to 5.00 after an off day against the clock – click here to bet
Milan is now 2nd in the Green Jersey Race with Pogacar having taken the jersey and a 3 points lead. Milan remains the 1.85 favourite with Pogacar firming slightly to 2.75 – click here to bet
Pogacar remains firm at 2.10 to win the Polka Dot Jersey which he handed to his teammate Tim Wellens on stage 3 – click here to bet on the King of the Mountains
Stage Profile
With six categorized climbs and over 3,200m of elevation gain, including a sharp 700m ramp to the finish this stage is ideal for explosive climbers and breakaway riders.
Stage 6 – What to Expect
This should be an exciting stage but I don’t think it is as straight forward as the betting suggests and the breakaway could finally get its day as I am not sure UAE want to burn too many matches chasing the stage and it might be wise for Vingegaard and his Visma team to lay low for a while saving energy for the mountain battles that lie ahead.
There should be a big battle for the break and I expect a larger group to get away filled with strong riders who are no threat to the Yellow Jersey in the long term.

Tadej Pogacar 3.25
Mathieu Van Der Poel 6.50
Romain Gregoire 13.00
Wout Van Aert 19.00
Jonas Vingegaard 21.00

Ben Healy 23.00

Bet: Gregoire win at 13.00
He looked excellent in stage 4 and can infiltrate the break or potentially win from a group of favourites who may be marking each other.
