Stage 4 starts in Amiens Métropole and ends 174.2km later in Rouen. It follows a rolling route through northern France with potential for late-stage drama. Rouen is no stranger to Tour finishes, and this stage may shake up the GC if the favourites aren’t careful. We look at the stage from a betting angle and offer up our selection for consideration.
Stage 3 Review
Stage 3 will be remembered for all of the wrong reasons. Firstly it was boring viewing with no breakaway and we had to wait until well into the stage for some action in the intermediate sprint.
During the sprint Green Jersey and our stage pick Jasper Philipsen was involved in a terrible crash through no fault of his own. Badly injured he sadly had to abandon.
The finish was frantic with more crashes including Evenepoel hitting the deck before Tim Merlier edged out Jonathan Milan in a tight finish.

Stage Profile
Covering 174.2 kilometres from Amiens to Rouen, this stage unfolds on undulating terrain. The final kilometres are hilly and favour punchy riders or late attackers rather than pure sprinters. If raced hard this could become a Yellow Jersey battle.
Stage 4 – What to Expect
There are 5 categorized climbs all of which are in the final 60km of the stage. I expect we will get a break go clear in this one but there will be a number of teams who will be keen to bring it back not least Alpecin-Deceuninck to protect the Yellow Jersey of Van Der Poel but also to set up a possible stage win.
The climbs while not long are steep in places and come close together and the pure sprinters will battle to stay in touch, especially if as I suspect the likes of Pogacar and Vingegaard are in attack mode.
I think it will be a crazy finale and Van Der Poel is a worthy favourite but watch out for the in form Kevin Vauquelin with a late attack.
