After a brutal climb up Hautacam in stage 12 the exhausted Tour de France riders are faced with a 10.9km Individual Time Train with the final 8km rising at 7.9%.

Stage 12 Review
This was always going to be a GC battle and as expected Visma rode hard and the break was always unlikely to succeed.
It all came together close to the bottom of the final climb and when it became apparent Visma had burnt too many matches. UAE then set a murderous pace and Pogacar attacked more than 10km from home.
Pogacar cracked Vingegaard and at the finish line he was 2:10 ahead of his big rival with Lipowitz a fast finishing 3rd.

The 1st 3km are flat and slightly downhill but then the climbing begins and the worst is the last 900m which rise at 13%

There will be some big gaps on this climb and being a time trial tactics will be less important than ability to climb and freshness.

With such a short priced favourites we will turn our attention to the match ups and given Vauquelin’s motivation for a high placing and that he finished ahead of Roglic on yesterdays climb he looks decent value to beat Roglic who is now clearly riding in support of Lipowitz.
