The Tour de France Stage 6 is 163.5 kilometres long and starts in Mâcon and finishes in Dijon. This should be another day for the sprinters as it is a flat stage with a lone categorized climb, the Col du Bois Clair, 10 kilometres into the stage, it will be followed by the intermediate sprint 21 kilometres later.
Stage 5 Wrap
He did it! Mark Cavendish defied the odds (he was 11/1) to win stage 5 of the Tour de France in a thrilling sprint finish ahead of favourite and our pick for the stage Philipsen (if you back Philipsen pre-stage at World Sports Betting you can claim your stake back in the form of free bets up to R5000, see banner below).
Cavendish now has more stage wins than any rider in history and Project 35 has been a success for his Astana team.
It was a straight forward stage but a hectic run in and unfortunately Mads Pedersen was inadvertently forced into the rails and had a bad accident in the final metres.
Jersey Update
No change to the Yellow Jersey where Pogacar leads by 45 seconds from Evenepoel and the Giro champions is 9/20 to do the double.
He is also 2/1 market leader in the King of the Mountains race
Girmay 9/2 leads the Green Jersey competition from Pedersen 3/1 and Philipsen remains favourite at 4/6

STAGE 6 ROUTE
As mentioned in the intro there is an early Cat 4 climb but at 1.6km and 6% it won’t cause any problems although it may see riders at least tempted to break away.
It should all come back together for a sprint finish although keep an eye out for cross winds which can cause havoc and splits in the peloton.
STAGE 6 TACTICS
The big sprint teams will let a small break go (assuming anyone tries) and will keep it on a tight leash before reeling it in.
