Stage 11, the second mountain stage of this year’s Tour de France takes place on Wednesday 10 July starting in Évaux-les-Bins and ending 211 kilometres away in Le Lioran
Stage 10 Wrap
We never got the crosswind action we were hoping for in Stage 10 and it was one of those stages where all you had to do was tune in for the last hwsalf-an-hour. We had a classic sprint finish with favourite, Philipsen getting an excellent lead-out and delivering our Stage 10 bet with an emphatic victory, chasing him home in 2nd was Green Jersey, Biniam Girmay and Ackermann put in another solid performance for 3rd.
Jersey Update
There is no change to the Yellow Jersey standings or betting with Pogacar still a firm 5/10 favourite.
Girmay’s lead has been cut by 20 points, but he still leads by 74 from Philipsen and remains a firm favourite for the Green Jersey at 11/20
Abrahamsen continues to lead the King of the Mountains where Pogacar is favourite at 2/1 and with a possible 25 points on offer in stage 11 expect to see Abrahamsen in the break.

STAGE 11 ROUTE
The first half of this stage is relatively straight forward and we get the sprint coming after 65 kilometres. There are 6 classified climbs on the stage and it is the last quarter of the stage that is really tough with 4 classified climbs, 2 CAT 2’s, a Cat 1 and finally a Cat 3 so this will be a big day for someone who might have their eye on the King of the Mountains jersey. The climbs are not that long but they are quite steep.
STAGE 11 TACTICS
If riders have been reluctant to get into the breakaway to this point on some of the flat stages, this stage should see plenty of competition for the break as there is every chance it will stay clear to contest the stage. I am expecting quite a big breakaway to go clear, possibly as much as 15 or 20 riders and I think they will hang on to contest the stage finish.
