The 2025 Tour de France kicks off with a flat stage in Lille Métropole, ideal for the sprinters to make their mark early. Expect a fast finish as the first yellow jersey is up for grabs. We take a look at the stage from a betting angle and offer up a selection for consideration.

Stage Profile
The opening stage is a loop to the west of Lille, covering 184.9 kilometres with under 1,200 metres of elevation gain. It’s a day tailor-made for the sprinters, with little in the way of climbing to disrupt the bunch.
There is a chance of cross winds in the last 30km so there is an outside chance the peloton is split heading into the finish.
What to Expect
I think an early non-threatening break will be allowed clear and will be given no more than 3-4 minutes.
The battle for position heading into the cross winds will keep the pace high and I expect the break to be swallowed up before we hit the 20km to go mark.
It should all come together for a bunch sprint.
