Stage 7 of the Tour de France takes place on Friday 11 July when the riders take on a hilly 197km route from Saint-Malo to Mûr-de-Bretagne Guerlédan. A familiar Tour battleground, Mûr-de-Bretagne always delivers GC fireworks and we take a look at the stage from a betting angle and offer up a selection for consideration.
Stage 6 Review
The breakaway had to work incredibly hard to establish itself in what turned out to be a very fast and exciting stage. Eventually, the elastic snapped, and a number of strong riders got up the road — including Stage 2 winner Mathieu Van der Poel, who started the day as second favourite in the betting.
It was Ben Healy, priced at 23.00 before the stage, who launched a bold attack on his breakaway companions with over 40 km remaining. He rode away solo and claimed an emphatic victory by more than two minutes. Van der Poel faded in the final kilometres but still did enough to snatch the Yellow Jersey back from Tadej Pogacar — by just one second.

Stage Profile
The stage climbs a total of approx.. 2,450m and finishes with a steep 2km ascent of the iconic Mûr-de-Bretagne—a classic puncheur’s finish. The hardest part of the climb is in the 1st kilometre.
Stage 7 – What to Expect
There should be a battle for the break although I expect it to go clear quicker than it did on stage 6. Alpecin should take control although even though the stage suits Van der Poel it may be better to let the break hoover up the bonus seconds.
I think other teams will assist though and this will most likely come back together for a GC battle.
