They started well by not losing any wickets in the initial overs, but their scoring rate was slow. As the innings progressed, they lost wickets at regular intervals and finished with a total of 141/5 after 20 overs. Riyan Parag was their top batsman, scoring 47 runs off 35 balls.
Defending a low total, the Royals bowled decently and took wickets regularly. However, it was challenging to defend such a score, and despite their efforts, they lost the game by 5 wickets with 10 balls remaining. Ravichandran Ashwin was their top bowler, taking 2 wickets for 35 runs in his 4-over spell.
The Punjab Kings faced the Royal Challengers Bengaluru last Thursday in Dharamsala. The Kings won the toss and elected to field first. They started well by taking 2 important wickets in the powerplay but struggled to contain runs later. The Royal Challengers posted a total of 241/7, with Harshal Patel taking 3 wickets for 38 runs in his 4 overs.
The Kings began their innings poorly, losing an early wicket. They stabilized briefly but lost wickets quickly afterward. This resulted in a slow run rate, and they were eventually bowled out in the 17th over, losing the match by 60 runs.
