We take a look at the Women’s Australian Open Semi-Final taking place on Thursday and suggest a bet in each match.
COCO GAUFF V ARYNA SABALENKA
Gauff is the 4th seed and she required 3 hard sets to beat the unseeded Kostyuk in the quarter-final. Gauff won the opener 7-6, lost the second set in a tie-breaker and won the final set 6-2. Her run to the quarter-final has been relatively untroubled only dropping more than 3 games in a set once and that was the first set tie-breaker in the second round against Dolehide.
Second seed, Sabalenka had a far easier passage into the semi-finals winning her quarter-final 6-2, 6-3 against 9th seed, Krejcikova. She has yet to drop a set and the most games she has conceded in a set is 3 and in the 3rd round she saw off 28th seed, Tsurenko without conceding a game.
Head-to-Head
The pair have met 6 times with Gauff winning 4 and Sabalenka twice. Their last meeting was in New York in September of 2023 where Gauff won 6-2 in the third set.

Gauff 7/4
Sabalenka 40/85
Although Gauff has a career record edge, Sabalenka is playing incredible tennis and I think she will be too strong and will book her spot in the final. I am going to back her to win at least 4 games or more than Gauff.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Sabalenka -3.5 games at 17/20
DAYANA YASTREMSKA v QINWEN ZHENG
Yastremska won 6-3, 6-4 against Nosková in her quarter-final which was unique in that both players were unseeded. She has only dropped 1 set on her road to the quarter-final and she has beaten 3 seeds along the way, including 7th seed Vondrousová 6-1, 6-2 in the 1st round.
Zheng, the 12th seed, required 3 sets to get past the unseeded Kalinskaya in her quarter-final winning 6-1 in the 3rd and that was the third time she was pushed to 3 sets in this Tournament. Amazingly Zheng has yet to meet a seeded player. She now faces a qualifier in the Ukrainian, Yastremska.
This will be the first career meeting between the pair and both women playing their first Grand Slam semi-final.

Yastremska 7/4
Zheng 40/85
While neither of these players are big names at the moment this has the potential to be a cracking semi-final and I could see it going to 3 sets.
Yastremska’s run through the Tournament has really captured the imagination and the way she is playing I can see herself booking a place in the final.
Suggested Bet: Yastremska win at 7/4 (If you are looking for a bigger price a Yastremska to win 2-1 correct score is trading at 5/1)
