The Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals take place this weekend and we look at both matches from a betting angle.
The Carling Knockout Cup has returned after an absence of 4 years and is South Africa’s version of the League Cup and under the last sponsor, it was known as the Telkom Knockout Cup. All 16 PSL teams were entered into the draw.
Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting where AmaZulu are trading as the 2/1 favourites ahead of Stellenbosch at 22/10, TS Galaxy are 28/10 and Richards Bay are the outsiders of the quartet at 7/2.

RICHARDS BAY v STELLENBOSCH – Click here to bet
Richards Bay are battling in the PSL and they currently sit second from bottom although they have taken 4 points from the last 6 they have played for.
They were at home to Swallows in the Round of 16 winning 2-1 and they then hosted Orlando Pirates in the quarter-finals coming through on penalties after the match finished goalless.
Stellenbosch are currently 4th in the PSL and they have taken 13 points from a possible 15 in their last 5 games. They were away to Chippa United in the Round of 16 winning 2-1 and had to travel in the quarter-finals as well where they beat Polokwane 2-0. Stellenbosch are unbeaten in 7 matches in all competitions.
Stellenbosch beat Richards Bay 2-1 at home earlier in the season and last season it was the away team who won on each occasion in the League also by 2-1 margins.
Despite being away from home Stellenbosch start this game as slight favourites and given their current form and that they have performed well on the road in this Tournament already I am going to back them to win inside the 90 minutes.
Suggested Bet: Stellenbosch win at 15/10

AMAZULU v TS GALAXY –Click here to bet
AmaZulu currently sit 11th in the PSL with just 1 win in their last 5 matches. They were drawn away to Kaizer Chiefs in the opening round but came away with a 1-0 victory in a game where they started 4/1 underdogs. They were then at home to Golden Arrows and while the bookies could barely separate the sides it was a comfortable 3-0 win to AmaZulu.
TS Galaxy are 10th on the PSL log and they moved above AmaZulu on goal difference thanks to a recent home win over Polokwane. They have won 2 and lost 3 of their last 5 PSL matches. Galaxy were given a tough task in their opening round being drawn at home to Mamelodi Sundowns, but they managed to force a penalty shootout and book their spot in the last 8. They travelled to Sekhukhune in the quarter-finals and once again it was penalties that saw them through.
AmaZulu beat TS Galaxy 1-0 at home in the League earlier in the season, but Galaxy won at this ground last year 2-1.
AmaZulu are worthy favourites here at 29/20 with Galaxy on offer at 7/4 and the draw 21/10. I think this is going to be a tight, low scoring affair and that Galaxy’s run of penalty shootouts may well continue.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 21/10
