The second Nations Cup semi-final takes place in the Netherlands on Thursday and we take a look at the game between Spain and Italy from a betting angle.
These two sides ae playing for the right to meet Croatia in the final on the weekend and although the outright betting markets are still to be updated these sides were trading at 95/40 and 3/1 heading into the semi-finals.
SPAIN
Spain’s last action in the Nations Cup was a 1-0 victory at Portugal in September of 2022. They had been coming off a 2-1 home loss to Switzerland and prior to that had picked up 2 wins and 2 draws.
Spain began their Euro 2024 qualifications campaign back in March when they beat Norway 3-0 at home. A few days later they stumbled to a shock 2-0 defeat to Scotland with the Scots on offer at just over 4/1 on the night.
ITALY
Italy only won 1 of their first 4 Nations Cup matches with 2 draws and a big 5-2 loss to Germany on the road. They finished strong though beating England 1-0 at home before going on to beat Hungary 2-0 on the road.
Italy’s Euro 2024 qualification journey started with a 2-1 home loss to England and they came back with a comfortable 2-0 away victory at Malta in their last start.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These two sides last met in the UEFA Nations League in 2021 when Spain won 2-1 in the semi-final before going on to get beaten 2-1 by France in the Final. They also met in Euro 2020 when Italy won on penalties after they were all square after 90 minutes

Spain 12/10
Draw 95/40
Italy 12/5
Three of the last six head-to-head matches between the sides have finished level and I am going to back the draw here at anything over 2/1.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 95/40
I don’t have any real feel for the goals markets, but over 2.5 goals is trading at 27/20. For those looking for a more speculative play the 1-1 draw is trading at 5/1 and you can get Alvaro Morata at 11/2 to be the first goal scorer.
There are hundreds of betting options available and of course you can bet in-running as well
