Orlando Pirates are enduring a difficult start to the season, sitting 14th on the table with no points after two defeats in their opening encounters.
Their latest outing was a 2-1 away loss to Gallants, where defensive lapses proved costly as they left Polokwane empty handed. With just one goal scored and three conceded so far, the Buccaneers will be desperate to turn things around and begin their climb up the log.
They drew 1-1 with Sundowns in the MTN 8 semi-final 1st leg last weekend.
Stellenbosch are one place above Pirates in 13th with just a single point from two games.
Their most recent matchup ended in a 1-1 draw against Magesi on the road, where they took the lead early but could not hold on for the victory, conceding just a few minutes later. They currently hold an aggregate of one goal for and three against across two matches and they are aware that this trip to Orlando Stadium is of crucial importance for both teams given their sluggish starts.
Stellenbosch beat Sekhukhune 2-0 at home in their 1st leg MTN 8 semi-final on the weekend.

The most recent meetings between the two teams took place last season where the first match was won 1-0 by Stellies on opposition ground, the second clash featured an uneventful 0-0 draw. Magesi have had a decent start to their 25/26 season, currently in 10th position with 2 points from two matches.
Their latest action concluded in a 1-1 draw at home when they took on Stellenbosch, showing character to share the spoils but they will be keen to pick up their 1st win. They possess an even score difference and look organised at the back but will be tested heavily against the reigning champions.
Mamelodi Sundowns are up in 5th place with 4 points from two matches and sit on a goal difference of +2 after a solid 2-0 home win over AmaZulu in their latest game.
The defending champions looked sharp in attack, and their defence was on point, correcting the early slip from their first fixture draw to Chippa. With three goals scored and just one against them so far, the Tshwane side are once again short price for a title defence.
Head-to-Head:
Sundowns hold the upper hand over Magesi in recent years having won both of the league matches during the 24/25 campaign, the first game ended in a 2-1 victory for them on the road and the second match resulted in a 2-0 home win for Sundowns.
The last time Magesi beat them was in the Carling Knockout Cup 2024 where they edged a 2-1 win at home.

Sundowns are strong favourites at 1.35, with the draw at 4.50 and Magesi at 10.00.
With Sundowns back in their rhythm, they should prove too much for Magesi and I am backing them to win by more than a goal.
