Gallants sit 4th on the log after an encouraging 2-1 away win in their opening match at Richards Bay, securing all three points on the log and starting the new campaign with momentum.
The Free State outfit looked sharp on attack, taking their chances well and holding their shape defensively despite receiving a red card in the 1st half and conceding an equalizer in the 55th minute. They grabbed the winner in injury time.
Orlando Pirates find themselves down in 13th on the table after a disappointing 1-0 home loss in their opening fixture to Sekhukhune. Although they dominated possession, they lacked the finishing touch in front of goal, and a defensive lapse just after half time cost them the match as they were unable to draw level despite piling on the pressure.
With pressure already mounting, the Buccaneers will be determined to bounce back and find the form they carried throughout the 24/25 season.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides last met in April 2025 in the Nedbank Cup, where Orlando Pirates edged a tight 1-0 home win. Just a month earlier in league action, Marumo Gallants had stunned the Soweto giants with a 2-0 victory on home soil—proving they can trouble Pirates when in form. However, their December 2024 clash told a different story, as Pirates ran riot with a crushing 8-1 win at home.
Betting and Verdict
Gallants are priced at 6.00, the draw at 3.40, with Pirates at 1.63.
Given Gallants’ strong start and Pirates’ early stumble, this could be a tighter contest than the odds suggest. I expect the visitors to have just enough quality to edge it, but Gallants look capable of finding the net.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS vs AMAZULU – Click here to bet
Mamelodi Sundowns sit 8th after being held to a 1-1 draw away to Chippa United in their opening match, dropping two points despite dominating large spells of the game. Their attack carved out numerous chances, but a lack of clinical finishing combined with a costly defensive lapse denied them a winning start. Back at Loftus, they’ll be aiming for nothing less than a convincing, high-scoring victory to get their campaign back on track.
AmaZulu opened their season with a solid 1-0 home win over Orbit College, placing them 5th on the table. They defended compactly, took their chance early, scoring just after the 20-minute mark and held firm for the remainder of the match.
A trip to face Sundowns is one of the toughest assignments in the PSL, and AmaZulu will need to be defensively disciplined while looking to capitalise on rare counter-attacking opportunities if they are to cause an upset.
Head-to-Head
Sundowns have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning all of the last four meetings without conceding a single goal. This run includes two league victories last season—a 1-0 win away from home, followed by a 2-0 triumph at Loftus in March.
Betting and Verdict
Sundowns are clear favourites at 1.30, the draw is at 4.75 and AmaZulu priced at 10.00.
After a disappointing opening game, Sundowns should be highly motivated for this encounter. With the backing of the home crowd at Loftus, I expect them to dominate possession, create plenty of chances, and secure a comfortable victory on Tuesday night.
