A fresh new season of the Premiership kicks off this weekend and we look at the 3 fixtures taking place on Saturday from a betting angle.
First let’s look at the Outright Betting. Mamelodi Sundown’s are currently heavy favourites to win the league trading at 1.07, Orlando Pirates are 11.00, with Stellenbosch 17.00 to win the title.

ROYAL AM v CAPE TOWN CITY – Click here to bet
Royal AM’s won their last game of last season but prior to that they were really battling and ended up slipping to 13th on the table after contending for a top 4 spot at one stage.
Cape Town City have had some recent action in the MTN 8 cup where they beat Sekhukhune 1-0 in the quarter finals and then fell out in the semis where they lost by an aggregate score of 3-1 to Orlando Pirates over two legs.
Head-to-Head
These sides met twice last season, where both sides won once at home, with the first game going the way of Cape Town City with a result of 2-0. The second match was won by Royal AM in front of their home crowd, where the final score was 2-0 as well.
Prediction
This should be a close game and while I can understand Cape Town City being the 2.40 favourites I think we get a draw.
BET: The draw at 3.10

MARUMO GALLANTS v KAIZER CHIEFS – Click here to bet
Marumo Gallants last played in the Motsepe Foundation League, where they finished in 11th place overall, losing 12 and winning 9 matches with 9 matches ending as a draw. They gained control over their form nearing the end of the season and won 5 of their last 6 matches in which they scored a total of 7 goals and conceded just 2 in the match they lost. They have relocated from Limpopo to the Free State and hope to take the Bloem Celtic name (SA football can be very confusing)
Kaizer Chiefs struggled in last season of the Premier League, where they placed 10th and they were unable to win any of their last 5 fixtures, settling for 3 draws and 2 losses. Early in March they caught a 5-1 hiding from Mamelodi Sundown’s and after that their form went further downhill, and they could not even score a single goal across their last 2 matches missing out on MTN 8 qualification.
Head-to-Head
Both sides were able unable to pick up a win in the 2 matches they played in the 2022/2023 season, and both games were drawn 1-1.
Prediction
Kaizer Chiefs enter this match as comfortable favourites to take the win against a side who take a massive jump in class from last season. I expect them to win the match without their opponents putting a goal on the board.
BET: Result & Both Teams to Score – Kaizer Chiefs and No at 2.75
POLOKWANE CITY v AMAZULU – Click here to bet
Head-to-Head
Polokwane City qualified for the MTN 8 Cup where they lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundown’s in extra time of their quarter-final. Prior to that they finished 8th in the Premier League season, and they did not lose any of their last 5 matches.
AmaZulu’s 2023/2024 season was a poor one and their form was all over the place, with them winning 8, drawing 12 and losing 10 of their 30 matches, which put them in 11th on the log. They did however only lose 1 of their last 4 matches, in a game against the Golden Arrows which concluded 3-1 at home.
Head-to-Head
These sides clashed twice last season where both games where uneventful, and the scoreline on both occasions was 0-0.
Prediction
With the betting markets having these sides closely matched price wise, I believe game will be a low scoring encounter and the game will end in a draw and a scoreless one for the 3rd successive meeting.
BET: Correct Score 0-0 at 6.00
