The biggest fixture in South African soccer takes place this weekend when Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs meet in the Soweto Derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
We take a look at the game from a betting angle.
Mamelodi Sundowns are currently 9/20 favourites to win the PSL ahead of Orlando Pirates at 16/10. You can get 100/1 and better the balance.

ORLANDO PIRATES
Pirates are currently 2nd on the log, 6 points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, but with a game in hand. They played 11 matches, winning 9, losing 2 and have yet to feature in a draw.
Pirates last game was a defeat away to Cape Town City in early January and they have won 3 matches in a row in all competitions including beating Richards Bay 3-1 away from home in the Nedbank Cup on the weekend.
KAIZER CHIEFS
Kaizer Chiefs currently sit 5th on the log, 6 points behind Pirates, but having played 3 games more.
Chiefs last action was at home to Sekhukhune where they won 1-0, but overall they have won 6, drawn 3 and lost 5 matches. Chiefs last 5 matches have all ended up with a 1 goal winning margin either for or against them.
GOAL STATS
7 of the 14 Kaizer Chiefs matches have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers this season while only 4 of the 11 Pirates matches have reached the 3-goal mark. Pirates have scored 22 goals in 11 games while conceding just 5 whereas Chiefs have scored 17 in 14 matches and conceded 16.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Orlando Pirates did the double over Kaizer Chiefs last season, winning 3-2 and 1-0. This fixture used to be known as one where the draw was likely, but amazingly we have had 17 consecutive derby matches without a draw, dating back to February 2019.

Orlando Pirates 7/10
Draw 26/10
Kaizer Chiefs 9/2
Orlando Pirates look worthy favourites here at 7/10, but Kaizer Chiefs have shown some form of late and I don’t think this is going to be one-way traffic. Given the draw hasn’t arrived in 17 matches, the 26/10 doesn’t look great value at first glance, but the last 11 matches between the sides have only been decided by 1 goal and so there is usually very little between them.
BET: The draw at 26/10
Other markets which punters take an interest in, include over 2.5 goals at 13/10 and both teams to score, yes, is priced at 12/10.
Personally, I think Pirates will win this 2-0 and that scoreline is on offer at 5/1.
