There are 3 DSTV Premiership fixtures taking place in midweek and we take a look at Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches from a betting angle.
TUESDAY
ORLANDO PIRATES v SWALLOWS – Click here to bet
Orlando Pirates are currently 9th on the log, but they do have at least 1 or 2 games in hand over most of the teams above them. They have taken 7 points from the last 9 they have played for and last time out drew 0-0 away to Richards Bay. Prior to that they beat Chiefs 1-0 and Sekhukhune 1-0 at home.
Goals have been scarce in Pirates matches and only 2 of their 11 games would have seen over 2.5 goal backers collect profits.
Swallows are 6th on the log, 2 points ahead of Pirates and having played the same number of games. They lost 1-0 at home to Kaizer Chiefs last time out and that broke a run of 5 successive matches without defeat.
Swallows matches in the PSL average just 1.6 goals each with only 3 of their 11 matches reaching the 3 goal mark.
Pirates did the double over Swallows last season winning this fixture 1-0 and the reverse fixture 4-1.
It is hard to imagine the goals flowing freely in this one and I think that it is going to be a tight affair making the draw a big runner.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 22/10

WEDNESDAY
AMAZULU v MAMELODI SUNDOWNS – Click here to bet
AmaZulu are currently 11th on the table and they have only won 1 of their last 6 home matches. They lost 1-0 at home to Stellenbosch last time out. They did get a 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on the road before that, a game where they could have been backed at 2/1. AmaZulu have only lost once in front of their own fans this season.
Mamelodi Sundowns have only played 9 matches, 4 less than 2nd placed Cape Town City, but they have a 100% record, scoring 19 goals and conceding just 3. Their last match was a 2-0 away win over SuperSport United and in their 6 away matches they have scored 10 goals and conceded just 1.
Trips to AmaZulu have proved challenging for Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years and they haven’t won in their last 3 visits and they are priced at 5/8 to rectify that on Wednesday night.
Sundowns’ defence has been excellent on the road, but AmaZulu are the sort of side that can trouble them and I am going to back both teams to find the back of the net.
Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 12/10
SEKHUKHUNE v CHIPPA UNITED – Click here to bet
Sekhukhune are 13th on the log and broke a 5 match run without a victory when they beat SuperSport United 2-1 at home last time out. They played 5 matches at home and that was their first victory in front of their fans this season.
Chippa United are 1 point and 1 position above Sekhukhune in 12th, but they are without a victory in their last 4 games which have consisted of 3 draws and a loss. Last time out they drew 0-0 at home to Stellenbosch and their loss came in their previous match going down 2-1 at Cape Town City. That was Chippa United’s first loss on the road this season.
33% of Sekhukhune’s matches have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers and that drops to 25% in Chippa United matches.
Sekhukhune have yet to beat Chippa United in the League in 4 attempts and I have to say that the draw is a big runner here, having arrived in 50% of the matches between the sides.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 21/10
