We take a look at two of the La Liga matches taking place on Sunday and suggest a bet in each of them.
Real Madrid continue to be the market leaders in the race for the La Liga crown and they are 9/10 favourites with Barcelona 27/20, Atletico Madrid are 6/1 and you can click here for all of the La Liga Outright markets.
ATHLETIC BILBAO v VALENCIA – Click here to bet
Athletic Bilbao are currently 6th on the table with 17 points from their opening 10 matches. They lost 1-0 away to Barcelona last time out and their last home game was a 3-0 victory over Almeria. Overall at home this season they have played 5 games, winning 3, drawing 1, and losing 1. They have scored 12 goals while conceding 6.
Valencia are 8th on the log and broke a 4 match run without a victory when they beat Cadiz 2-0 at home last time out. Prior to that, they played out a 1-1 away draw at Mallorca and they have only won once in 5 attempts on the road this season with 2 draws and 2 defeats. Valencia have only scored 5 goals in 5 away matches while conceding 8.
Athletic Bilbao did the double over Valencia last season and won this fixture 1-0 and the previous two years this fixture was drawn.
Athletic Bilbao should be too strong for Valencia in this one, but I don’t think it is going to be a runaway victory and I will back the home team to win by exactly 1 goal.
Suggested Bet: Handicap Athletic Bilbao -1, the draw at 5/2
ATLÉTICO MADRID v ALAVES – Click here to bet
Atlético Madrid are 4th on the log and on a great run which has seen them win 5 matches in a row. They beat Celta de Vigo 3-0 on the road last time out and previously beat Real Sociedad 2-1 at home. They have a 100% record in their 4 home matches this season.
Alaves are currently 15th on the log and sliding fast as they haven’t won in their last 6 matches. They have drawn 3 of their last 4 games including a 1-1 draw at Villarreal last time out and 3 of their last 4 fixtures have finished with 1-1 score lines.
Alaves have yet to win on the road this season with 2 draws and 3 defeats in 5 games and while Atlético Madrid have seen 7 of their 9 matches reach the 3 goal mark, over 2.5 goal backers would be broke following Alaves with only 1 of their 10 matches delivering profits.
The last time these sides met was in the 2021/22 season when Atlético Madrid won 4-1 at home.
Atlético Madrid are 4/10 for the win with Alaves 7/1 and the draw priced at 4-1.
Atlético have looked in really good form of late and I am backing them to score 3 goals or more in this one.
Suggested Bet: Atlético Madrid over 2.5 goals at 13/8
