VILLARREAL v REAL MADRID– Click here to bet
Villarreal will host league champions Real Madrid this Sunday, hoping to continue their rich vein of form on the domestic front. With European football a slim possibility, the Yellow Submarines are well aware that anything less than all three points will end that dream. Currently 8th on the table, Villarreal emerged victorious Tuesday evening with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Girona, improving their recent tally to 12 points from a possible 15 in their last five league encounters. As hosts, they’ve fared relatively well, securing 7 wins, 4 draws, and 7 losses.
Villarreal have averaged 1.78 goals per game at home this season, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 72% of those encounters (13 out of 18).
Real Madrid will travel to the Estadio de la Cerámica looking to continue where they left off on Tuesday. Los Blancos enter this encounter in ruthless form, having recently registered a 5-0 win over Alavés, marking their fourth consecutive clean-sheet victory and extending their unbeaten league run to 29 matches. With the league title secured and the Champions League still ahead, Real Madrid have their sights set on achieving the double and will want to maintain their winning momentum leading up to the final on June 1st. On their travels, Real Madrid boast the best figures in the league, with an impressive 13 wins, 4 draws, and just 1 defeat to date.
Real Madrid have averaged 1.94 goals per game away from home this season, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 50% of those games (9 out of 18).
Head-to-Head
Real Madrid won 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season with Villarreal winning 2-1 in this fixture last season.
With both teams averaging a healthy ratio of goals, this could turn out to be an entertaining encounter. Villarreal can ill afford to drop points, which places additional pressure on them, while the visitors will have the freedom to express themselves. My preference would be to avoid the outright market and focus on the scoring market instead.
Suggested Bet: Totals, Over 3.5 at 21/20
VALENCIA v GIRONA – Click here to bet
Valencia host Girona at the Mestalla this weekend, knowing that European competition for next season is effectively out of their hands. It has been a particularly disappointing period for Valencia, having registered just one point in their last four outings and failing to find the back of the net in their last two home games. Currently 9th in the standings, they are under significant pressure, and the timing is far from ideal if they hope to maintain their slim European aspirations. After a recent 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano at the Mestalla, they will be hoping their last home game of the season results in a more positive outcome. Despite their recent dip in form, they boast the 7th best home record with 8 wins, 6 draws, and 4 defeats this season.
Valencia have averaged 1.05 goals per game at home this season, with under 2.5 goals occurring in 67% of those encounters (12 out of 18).
Girona visit Valencia knowing their fate for next season’s UEFA Champions League is secure. It has been a solid campaign from the White and Reds having performed impressively on a consistent basis. Currently 3rd on the table, they enter Sunday’s clash off the back of a rather unlucky 1-0 defeat to Villarreal. Despite dominating in every facet of the game they simply had no answers on the day. This weekend they will look to bounce back against an out of sorts Valencia side and with an away record of 9 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats, they will fancy their chances of improving their overall tally.
Girona have averaged 1.71 goals per game away from home this season, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 56% of those games (10 out of 18).
Head-to-Head
Girona won 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season with Valencia winning 1-0 in this fixture last season.
Valencia appear to be struggling at the moment and given their lack of goal action, particularly in front of their home crowd, the visitors are likely to capitalise on their recent misfortune.
Suggested Bet: Draw no bet, Girona at 15/20
ATLÉTICO DE MADRID v OSASUNA– Click here to bet
Atlético de Madrid will host Osasuna at the Metropolitano Stadium this weekend, having secured their place in next season’s Champions League. Coming off an impressive 3-0 win away to Getafe midweek, the mighty Red and Whites currently occupy 4th spot, just 2 points adrift of Girona in 3rd. This will be their final home game of the season before ending their campaign away to Real Sociedad the following weekend. At home, Atlético de Madrid have been dominant, winning five out of their last six league appearances at the Metropolitano, including three consecutive victories. Their overall home record stands at an impressive 16 wins, 1 draw, and just 1 loss.
Atlético de Madrid have averaged 2.28 goals per game at home this season, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 78% of those games (14 out of 18).
Osasuna visit the Metropolitano Stadium having already confirmed their status for next season’s La Liga campaign. With just 2 points from a possible 18 in their recent matches, it is safe to say the Reds have effectively switched off knowing their fate is secured. Currently 13th in the standings, Osasuna enter this weekend’s fixture following a 1-1 draw at home to Mallorca, marking two consecutive draws. On the road, Osasuna have looked particularly vulnerable, securing just 1 point from a possible 9 in their last 3 outings. Their overall away record stands at 5 wins, 4 draws, and 9 defeats.
Osasuna have averaged 1.22 goals per game this season away from home, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 56% of those games (10 out of 18).
Head-to-Head
Atlético de Madrid won 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season with Atlético de Madrid winning 3-0 in this fixture last season.
The Reds don’t have a particularly good record against Atlético, having lost five consecutive games without finding the net. With nothing to play for and this being Atlético’s last home game, I fancy the hosts to walk away with all three points and yet another clean sheet.
Suggested Bet: Atlético de Madrid To win to nil, Yes at 5/4
